Does anyone know what compression ratio the Solitaire or S-4000 pro uses when importing SD material? I've got a client asking me and I have no idea. There throwing phrase like 2 to 1 and 4 to 1 at me and I don't know what that means. I've explained the different formats available but this does not satisfy them. Thanks.

SD DV format is usually 13Gb an hour. The standard for DV (called DV25) is 5:1. So when your finished product goes out to DV tape it will be 5:1....the standard set by SONY. Now, they can compress it for uploading etc.

Thanks Lou, I guess it helped. Now they're asking me for .mp4's wrapped in an h.264 codec, any idea how I can do that? I usually don't ask before doing the research first, but I'm just too busy right now. I beleive h.264 is the codec for AVCHD or something like that, but as far as I know .MOV is an Apple thing and not one that can be created by a Cassie. Thanks.

Use the MP 4 setting in the scene bin OPT button area and you will be fine.

Lou, My OS is Bogart SE 4.5c. I don't see an MP 4 option under OPT when I click on "export actual scene". Exporting the scene gives me a .avi. SO I don't see how that helps. Am I just missing something here?

Chris,

If you have Bogart 4 or higher, you can export your storyboard to media manager then select the "h.264 direct .mp4 lossless" option under the drop down export options within media manager. If you have the render booster & Bogart 5, then you will have the H.264. .mp4 export options within the export options in the scene bin....hope that helps...

Joel gave good advice. I should have clarified the use of RB and Bogart 5.

The opt button contains an AVI wrapper with MP4 within.

Thanks to Lou and Joel. That helps a lot. It wasn't too hard to figure out once I started using Media Mgr.
