I had been trying to do a back up in DV backup mode for a project I was working on. But the machine kept crashing everytime. I had been selecting my stand alone hard drive so I decided to try backing up to a DVD instead. I put a blank disc in, and proceded with the back up and it crashed again. So after letting it sit for a bit I plugged it back in and the S-4000 Pro started to boot up but also started spinning up the Blu Ray drive with the blank disc in it. This caused the machine to just sit there spinning the disc continuosly. None of the eject buttons on the front would work and pressing F4 didn't work either. I unplugged again and tried several more times but with the same result. SO I decided I had to get the disc out of there. After removing the top of the S-4000 pro (not an easy task) I was able to remove the Blu Ray drive. After unscrewing several screws on it I noticed and eject button on the front of it. SOmething all discs drives have but the way it is placed in the machine it is not accessable when it's installed in the machine with the cover on. So I plugged in the S-4000 pro and pressed the eject button on the drive while it was booting up, the disc came out and the S-4000 pro booted up as normal. Whew! Afterwards I backed up the storyboard to the archives and did a full HD backup of my projects. All worked fine. The back up hard drive still has plenty of space on it. Not sure why it wanted to crash everytime I was backing up the project in DV backup mode. If anyone has any thoughts I'd appreciate it. thanks!

Hi, I seem to remember that when I had a disc stuck in the S4000Pro, if you continually push the "esc" button on start-up this will eject the disc.

YIKES.....just hit the ESC button next time for the S4000 only. The S4100 requires a 'dog and pony show' USB stick procedure and the S6000 uses a tiny flat metal "key" like device.

And, at last, the Karat & Topaz need neither - the eject button(s) are in plain sight
