Reload data on external HD to internal HD on S2000
I have a LaCie external HD containing storyboard files created on a S2000 using Bogart 4.1c that I want to reload into the the same S2000 now using Bogart 5.3. How do I do this?

I assume you have used the “Backup storyboard” function in the “Project settings” menu to save your material, if so the following should work. Data from previous versions can be loaded onto later OS versions, no problem.
Restore a Storyboard.
1. From the main Bogart SE menu, click “Project” to enter the “project settings” menu.
2. Under “Project” – “Select”, click on an empty project. Click the project box and enter a name for the project.
3. Click on the “Format” button and enter the resolution, etc, required.
4. Click the “Restore storyboard” button and from the dropdown box called “Please choose name”, select the source from where the backup is stored, e.g. Seagate No1. – “OK”.
5. From the dropdown box choose the project to be restored. – “OK”.
6. A window will appear with a progress bar as the process continues. When complete a dropdown box will ask where to be inserted, e.g. the story board, scene bin or both, tick as appropriate and click “OK” ,“OK” and finally “OK” again, after the box says the restore succeeded.
Depending in what mode you saved the story board, you may find that some transitions and any inserts in the storyboard may not be restored, but otherwise it should all be there.

Re: Reload data on external HD to internal HD on S2000
Ian,
Thanks for your reply. However, I have a problem with item 4 "Please chose name". The only choice I have at that point is "CD/DVD". In other words, my version of Bogart 5.3 doesn't seem to recognize my external HD. Any thoughts on how to introduce them to each other or recognize the file name "2013-04-23"?
Thanks,
Tom

Hans,
It is Firewire. As an aside, I have a firewire selector switch so the external HD or a Sony digital 8 camera can be connected to the S2000. The camera connection operates correctly. Unless someone has a suggestion that fixes the problem before then, on Monday I am going to take the HD to a computer repair shop and have them test it.
Thanks for your help

Hi Tom
I’m not sure why your HDD is not recognised. My HDD,s are USB connections, but according to the manual it should also operate on firewire external HDD’s.

Hi Tom,
I also have a Lacie original bought from MacroSystem some years ago
when I still worked with SmartEdit.
This ext. disk has both Firewire and USB connectors.
So if your disk is maybe of the same brand have a look if there are also USB connections.
If so try to import via USB, as Ian's tip.

Re: Reload data on external HD to internal HD on S2000
Ian, Hans et al,
(1) I had the external HD tested and several file symbols were displayed but they could not be opened because they were not PC or MAC files.
(2) I used the camera through both positions of the selector switch and had no problem communicating with the S2000.
(3) When attempting to read or write to the external HD the only choice for a source or destination is "CD/DVD".
(4) Is there a way to determine the "Name" of the external HD and change it if desired?
Thanks,
Tom

I don’t know if there is a way to externally rename the HDD, but in any case I’m not sure this will help.
Are you saying that clicking the source box does not show any other options than CD/DVD?
At the top of the Project settings page, under “Hard-drive”, click on the “Select” box. Is your external HDD shown here? Unless you have also used the external HDD for a full backup, it may not show, but it is worth checking. You can change the name of the external HDD from this section by creating a new project environment, clicking the name tab and typing a new name for the HDD, but if you are not seeing the HDD, this is no good.

Re: Reload data on external HD to internal HD on S2000
Hi Tom,
if firewire both ways works for your cam your hd problem has to do with
the firewire connection not being recognized.
First try to connect the hd direct to the firewire socket of the S-2000.(No firewire hub)
Is it now recognized?
Are you sure your Lacie has only firewire and no USB-connectors?
If also USB try the USB.
Since many years the new standard for hds operated with casablanca are USB-connected hds.
So for future savings please change to USB-connected hds.
Maybe your PC shop can copy your firewire-hd-data to a leased ext. USB-hd and you could try importing via USB?
Please report your progress, we all can learn
