when to use jpg and png?

Photo Studio 2 seems to like jpg's the best, but I am told the editor will also work with png. I am thinking that png works best when the image is a logo on a transparent background. Does anybody here had experience putting png's into PS2, and how did that work?

.PNG files are not designed to be imported via Photo Studio 2.....You have to import via the "custom images" then use the Pattern 2 effect to insert & place on a scene where you can adjust the alpha channel & place anywhere on the screen.....very nice feature that was added under Bogart 4 & up....

Okay, Joel you have confirmed a suspicion- png's are pretty much logos and other images that go on top of other images, right? Jpg s are the background pics and png's are more the next layer up. Makes sense, coming from the eye candy exercise that Chet has on his dvd. Thanks!

You can also use .png in some of the titling menu effects to fly your logo in and out of the frame. Just by experimenting I found which ones it works with and which ones don't.
