tape to PC to USB?

Hi all - My niece in Tennessee took some footage on a mini dv tape of my sister's 50th anniversary. I can not play it on any cameras (have tried 3 different ones). I am in Michigan. I think she might have taped it in LP. She played it at home so I know it worked. I am going down for Thanksgiving. My question(s):
1) If I can save it to her computer (VISTA) can I then save it to a usb drive?
2) If I get it on the usb drive can I load it to my Bogart 4 editing system to edit?
3) If I can do the above what file format do I need to save it in for it to work on my bogart 4 system?

That's all the issues I can think to ask about. I would really appreciate any help anyone can give me.

thanks.

I can't answer the Bogart part of the equation, but at the least you could make a standard play copy of the original footage onto one of your own camcorders. (remember to bring some blank tapes or cards and cables!) When you get it home you can load it into your editor how ever you usually do. What does it say in the manual? Have you looked at Chet Davis' website, http://www.casablancaexpert.com?

HDV? Was it played out via FireWire? Or Analog cables.
