I have a DVD master from years ago and I need to dump a part of it in a project. Is there any way to just dump just the part I need or do I have to import the whole disc?

HA! You trying to sell me on Bogart? All these years I have been using smart edit I had never figured a way. I have a master disc that I have tried to import twice and it stops at 36:01 both times. so I suppose something is corrupted at 36:01! I went ahead and imported it from a DVD player via RCA> I know its quality isn't near as good but I had to have it on line tonight and a hard copy in the mail tomorrow! Thanks Lou!

For those with Bogart, simply use the record window. Wait for the files to populate- that is he secret. Then, locate the actual material for import. This eliminates the menu file and end file. Otherwise, the analog importation in Smart Edit works well.

Lou, I had it happen agin last night. I tried to import a dvd from 2008. I went to 23:29 or some such number and quit. I tried it agin and it did the same thimg at the exact same spot. I ended up importing it analog but the Quality is not as good and me still being in SD is really noticeable. What could be causing that. Thes disc's were both burned with this same machine I think. Well it might have been the Avio that burned them. I can't remember when I got the rennie!

I don't know if this will help or not, but it might be worth a try. I remember reading a while back that someone was having trouble playing an older DVD. They used a duplicating tower to make a copy and the copy played fine. Is it possible that the DVD drive in the Renommee is the problem?

i don't think so Craig, The earlier disc was burned by my old Avio and the other was the Rennie. The interesting thing is that each time it stops at the exact minute second and frame. That would usually say there is a problem at that point on the disc but they both play gthru that point with no problem.

I'm not sure if this will work, but it may be that there isn't enough disc space in the Arabesk storage area because you've previously burned projects that are still in there. Bobbie Evoy and others recommend emptying Arabesk of all previously stored projects by by going to the main Arabesk screen and clicking on the Export button under the words Disk Transfer in the lower left corner of the screen. A message will come up that tells you that you will lose all stored projects in Arabesk. Follow through and when you get asked to select a project to export just click ok. Then try using Ksebara again.

I will try that tomorrow. I have had to import both analog. The projects had to be done. I am always wanting to use old footage that I have on disc and importing thru Ksebara has been good. It would be nice if I had a way to go to the scenes I need and only export them. Maybe one day I will be able to upgrade to Bogart! Thanks Man!
