I am shooting SD video in 16x9 format. Every thing looks good until I split the scene into segments and add a title as a lower thirds ID for the speaker.
When I check the subtitle in "full" view, perfect. When the scene is "creating" Perfect. When I play the created scene, the wide screen scene has been converted to a vertical stretched 3x4 scene. There are black pillars on both sides of the stretched scene. The scene is already stretched to 3x4 when I open the "enter/edit text" screen. Any solutions or suggestions for keeping the scene 16x9?? Now that I have gotten into further editing, I see that when a cross fade is added, the image also changes to 4x3 during the cross fade.
Title turns wide scene into 3:4 scene

Re: Title turns wide scene into 3:4 scene
Hi Bob,
I think I've seen something like that before when editing SD 16:9 footage in my Kron Plus with Smart Edit 8.3. It looks like its 4:3 (narrow black pillars) and it plays 4:3 in the editor, but when I go to the Trim or Split screen and start scrolling it appears as 16:9, the way I shot it. When I burn it to DVD it looks ok. Why not try a short test and burn some of the edited footage to DVD?

No cigar. Maybe a difference in Smart Edit and Bogart. During a cross fade, the video transforms from 16X9 to anamorphic 4X3 (squeezed 4X3) even on the finished DVD as does a lower thirds graphic added to the SD 16X9 files on the 16X9 SD project.

I don't own a Bogart system so I can't duplicate the problem. You might try posting this question on the Cassie Tips List and also becoming a member of Chet Davis' Casablanca Expert - he has membership options that vary in length. That site is a wealth of information not in any Macrosystem manual. Let us know how you make out.

Try running it through CineConverter. Curious if that may help the aspect ratio.
