SE 8 and Solitaire

I just loaded SE 8 into my Solitaire, which already had SE 7. It said it needed to reboot and the DVD tray opened. I removed the Software DVD and it did not reboot. I shut it down myself. On starting up again all I can get is a white screen with Casablanca Solitaire on it. It will not go any further. I have forced it off and restarted it to no avail. Same logo screen. Any suggestions?

Please connect a VGA monitor to your system. Do you see the menu there?

I connected a VGA monitor and on boot up it says on the VGA monitor "boot from disk" for a few seconds and then the white screen with Casablanca Solitaire comes on the TV monitor that I have hooked through S-video.

Cliff,

Are you using a bootable OS CD or a Product OS CD?

I'm confused.

You have SE 8 already?

Is it out?

Cliff,

Well, I seem to remember this issue coming up with the Solitaire and first reboot on some units.

Do you have an old OS Smart Card (does not have to be current)?

If so, I would stick that into the slot, power up and say English, then No to all further questions until it tells you to remove the Card and power cycles.

I would expect it to come up properly after that.

Barring not having a OS SM card you could burn a OS Boot CD (this CANNOT be done on anything less than a Solitaire!) and do the same procedure.

Power up enough to Insert Boot CD, power down, power up, choose English, No to the rest, remove CD, power cycle and I bet it will come up properly then.

Thanks Tim:

It will be tomorrow before I can try that. I will post the results.

I am currently downloading the bootable disk. It lists for the Solitaire plus, etc. I assume that is what you are refering to.
