Does autosplit work with an HDMI feed?

I have a new Sony camcorder and its firewire feed will be mpg4, so I will be using the HDMI line to get the signal out. Will Casablanca auto split that?

Jim,
I know they were/are discussing the MPEG4 / firewire possibility, but I was unaware there is already a camcorder out there with that ability and would think you are confusing something.
On that same note, your question about autosplit and HDMI does not make any sense as no Casablanca machines have HDMI input.
What cam model are we talking and remind me what Cassie platform you are using?

well, I was thinking that the Casablanca v7, DOES have HDMI input, but just went and looked and you are right. NOW how to fix that? How do I convert mpg 4 to mpg 2? I may just return the camera, as it is totally incompatible with the Cassie.

HDMI is really for viewing as HOLLYWOOD would never be happy with a compression free codec. Even though there are certain video cards (BLACK-MAGIC-DESIGN) the field is very limited.
However, with the new "S" model, simply plug in your USB>RECORD>USB ICON>LIST>CHECK>RECORD
The "S" model will support MTS files.

The unit is a Sony HDR-SR11, which is one of the few camcorders with a line audio input. It has the MPEG4 to feed YouTube, which only accepts Mpeg4. My source is working on this.

Oh, an AVCHD format based cam.
That is not compatible with the Smart Edit operating system for digital transfer and agree it is less than the best choice if you intend to stick with the Renommee and Smart Edit.
Supposedly, the Bogart operating system used in the new S4P is or will be AVCHD compatible, but I have no experience with the format.

As it turns out, the camera puts out a MPG 2 when it shoots in shoots in standard def, and 4 when in HD.
