Would you update your profile to show your machine (if you've updated since your Prestige) and operating system?

NO...only within a drive. Use export....Sentry.....or whatever your unit will work with an ext. drive.

Hi Bill,

With your Prestige with SE 4 you have 2 options for backing up footage:

1) Go the the Finish Screen and record the storyboard out to tape via Firewire, then swap drives and import it back into the drive you just installed via Firewire

or

2) Go the the Finish Screen and record the storyboard out to your PC via Firewire. There should be something about this in your manual. I found this:
-
FireWire support for data interchange
Most Casablanca systems are equipped with a FireWire port. Up to now, the FireWire port was
only used for transferring data between a DV-camcorder or deck and a Casablanca system.
SmartEdit 4 now allows for connecting PCs via the FireWire interface. This allows the inter-
change of data in real-time without any loss.

Or you could use disc transfer - quite handy for small bits of footage going in and out and you could use re-writable discs too ;)

Connecting your Cassie to another (master) source via FireWire has always been a bit hit or miss.

If it works for you then great use it and if it doesn't you could try updating to a newer Smart Edit - but even then the feature/function would work or not work within updates and versions
