I’m just wondering how I’m able to down convert a video that was filming HD to be able to burn it on a Casablanca Studio pro and burn it on SD format not Blu-ray. I film performing arts and the parents do not have Blu-ray player so requesting that I give them a standard DVD.

Just select SD in the upper right corner of Arabesk to generate a Video-DVD in SD resolution.

And better ask the parents if they really have an ancient TV with a tube All Flat-TV sets could also play the movie in HD resolution, when exported as MP4 onto an USB drive. Loosing 75% of all pixels when making a DVD is not the only solution these days.

OK.. the 75% would have been in PAL. NTSC lost is even higher.

• 720x540 = 388.800 pixels, interlaced - so two fields in one frame
• = 194.400 pixels for one single field/picture.

Filming in HD, you can record

• 1920x1080 interlaced = 2.073.600 / 2 = 1.036.800 pixel for a single field/picture
• 1920x1080 progressive = 2.073.600 for a single frame/picture

Loss when making a DVD

• from Full-HD interlace: 1036800...100% 194400....??% 194400x100:1036800 = 18,75% remaining pixels (=81,25% of the recorded pixels gone)
• from Full-HD progressive: 2073600...100% 194400....??% 194400x100:2073600 = 9,375% remaining pixels (=90,625% of the recorded pixels gone)

Buying 10x 16 GB sticks... that's ~3 USD for each If this amount will make the difference for loosing 81-90% of the resolution

You can also export the movie to a DVD (4,3 GB) or DVD+R DL (8.5 GB) if you don't want to spend 3 $ for an USB stick. This can be played back from every PC/Notebook, attached to a modern Flat-TV via HDMI.

Did you record the event in 60p or 60i or 30P?

Hi Newman I recorded on 60P the performance are about 1 1/2 hours long I would have to use 128gb for video to fit I tried 64gb but it would not fit and the cheapest I can buy usb stick is $20.00 and parents are not willing to pay that much more, some older computers will not play it smoothly, new tv play it fine.

I think you want to look into the Export function in Bogart. This can compress the video, thereby requiring much less space (smaller USB stick). Think of audio being compressed from a .wav file down to an .mp3 with a low bitrate. While a 700 MB cd can hold about 72 minutes of music encoded as .wav files, a cd with the same capacity can hold many hours of music compressed to .mp3 files. Compression is what makes it possible for an Apple iPod to hold so many songs. Everything on YouTube has been compressed, either by the person posting the video or by YouTube itself.

I don't recall seeing a comprehensive discussion of this feature in the manual. Buttons and their functions are described, but I am unaware of a table and a tutorial that would help determine what settings to use so that you can compress 128 GB down to 16 GB to fit on a thumb drive as Michael Heubmer has suggested. Also, a smaller file might play better on an older tv due to a lower demand on the tv's processing power.

I wish I could offer more help, but this is an area that I know very little about.

For 90 minutes to use 128 GB, this would mean a datarate of ~190 MBit/second.

• Digital Television Broadcast in 1920x1080 uses ~16 MB/sec,
• a Blu-ray has max. 35 MB/sec
• a SD DVD has max. 9.5 MB/sec.

Exporting a 90 minute Storyboard from Bogart will have about

• ~8.1 GB with low quality, able to play from most hardware media players. Can also be burned in full resolution onto a Dual-Layer DVD (DVD+R DL with 8.5 GB) and will play on every Notebook.
• ~12.15 GB with medium quality, perfect for a 16 GB stick.
• ~16.88 GB with high quality, maybe already to much for older media player hardware
• ~24.3 GB with maximum quality, needing new hardware to play back smooth.

Most users won't see any difference from medium to high... and very high is nice for cameras above 6000 USD.
