Interesting scenario. I have both a Canon Vixia HFS20 and HSF30 HD camcorder. The only difference I can tell is that the HSF30 has a viewfinder. All other features, connections, menus, settings are the same.

The problem I have is when I record at quality setting "x" on the HSF20, the files and videos are immediately recognized from the record / transfer screen (using the USB connection) and are easily transferred into the 3000.

When I shoot with the exact settings on the HSF30, the camcorder is recognized, as are both SD cards, but no video files show up. Odd

When I connect the S30 camcorder to my PC, there are multiple ways that I can import the video files with no problem

Any ideas?

Thanks.

What size & type are the SD cards that you are using ?

Maybe one camera formats the cards in NTFS and the other is exFat. I don't know for sure but it seems like the older Cassies with regular Bogart won't read drives formatted in exFat but will read NTFS. Whereas newer machines running Bogart for windows will read both.

Have you tried using a USB card reader instead of the camera ?

  • Outdated Casablanca-3 systems can only read FAT, FAT32 and NTFS filesystems.
  • SDXC cards or other >32 GB are normally exFAT formatted and can't be read.
  • Bogart Windows can read them directly, Casablanca-3 need the file copied to a FAT32 or NTFS USB drive for import.
