mpeg 4 to mpg2

My camcorder records in mpg 4 in HD mode. If I send a signal out to a computer and burn a DVD with the material shot in HD, is it not going to be Mpeg 4, and then how to make that a compatible signal for the Casablanca, which likes its signals in MPg 2? When a camera loads an HDV signal in thru firewire (which my camcorder does not have) into the Casablanca what kind of signal is that? Is that not Mpg4? I am just hoping that the Casablanca will recognize the MPG 4 on the disk, and treat it as an HDV signal.

How are you importing a AVCHD file into a Renomee?

I am using the camera maker's proprietary software to burn a disk. Don't know what kind of signal is being burned on it, tho, 2 or 4. I know the Renomee will take scenes from disk, so I am hoping to bring them in that way. Thus, all this investigating.

Is there no further response? When an HDV signal is loaded in via firewire what kind of signal is it? 2 or 4?

I don't know what format your proprietary cam records on DVD, but it seems like it would be in the owners manual.

I doubt if it's compatible with input via the Renommee's DVD burner as our machines are pretty finicky on what they accept be it using Ksebara or Disk Transfer, but you own the cam, you own the Renommee, why don't you just try it and tell the rest of us if it works?

Cam creates MPeg 2 in SD, and MPeg4 in HD, so I have to imagine the disk would be MP 4, if the camera was shooting in that format. I know the Cassie can import MP4 thru the firewire, because the disk tutorial says to import HDV thru firewire, but can it read MP4 on a disk?

I would think the answer is no, but I don't understand why you don't just pop it in and find out and tell us as you have the cam, the Renommee and the formatted DVD to try it.

that's a little complicated. Sony warns me that putting their proprietary software in might create problems with any other software related to the burner, so I will only install the Sony burner software in a separate computer, so I don't create needless software problems. One reason I got Cassie is that it is a standalone system, ridding me of any conflicts in my machine that editing software might cause. I don't edit video with my PC, cause the PC has its own problems, and I am trying to add any more. Thus the separate PC for burning only. Might also do music too, but not much else. That's rather long winded, but its where I am.

Oh, this is a separate software, I thought you were talking about an actual cam that records directly to DVD.

Our system would not even recognize non-Cassie software CDs or DVDs to input into the system, which is a good thing.
