Arabesk Background Recording

What if it were possible to be able to transcode to Arabesk (MPEG 2) in the background while inputing footage from the record window simultaneously.
This would be nice so we could be ready to burn a DVD to give to a client on the spot.
Just a thought.

The only way I know how to accomplish this is to simultaneously record to a stand alone DVD burner as well as the tape or card in the camera.
Remember that some cameras cut the audio out when you open the tape door for a tape change, so for continuous audio on the DVD (if you're using mini-dv tapes) you may have to run two audio lines from an audio mixer, one to the camera and one to the stand alone DVD burner. You'll need a monitor hooked up to the DVD to make sure its receiving video from the camera and audio from the mixer.

If the technology is available on a $100 dollar DVD recorder, then it seems it would be possible to incorporate into the Casablanca system. It would be great if we had that ability even if it meant sacrificing elegant menu creation. It could be simple.
