DVD not playable

Hey, I've got another DVD Arabesk 4 problem. I created a dvd with a custom menu. When finished it says completed and verifies ok, but is not playable in any dvd players I have or my pc. When inserted into my Prestige it is not readable. It even says "disc probably not created with Arabesk"!! Come on! I have tried it 3 times now.
Is there a step I'm missing?
I am using dvd+r's and have used the same before and it worked.

I haven't done much editing for the last year, so my knowledge may be outdated, but I only use Taiyo Yuden DVD -Rs in my Prestige and they always work fine. I know DVD +Rs wouldn't work with some of the older SE operating systems and older versions of Arabesk. You said you're using Arabesk 4. What version of Smart Edit are you using?

While it is the purpose of Arabesk 3 & 4 to create and even to read DVD's that have been created on it, I cannot find a way to play back a DVD by inserting it into the machine. When it "reads" a DVD, it is copying what's there to make a copy, but I know of no way for the system to simply play back a DVD, whether created on it or not.

I too, only use dvd-r's. Never have a problem with playback. In fact, it is the most reliable burn I get. I have a dvdbuner that spits out a failure every so often. It doesn't seem as though you are missing a step. Must be a problem with your system or the dvd+r.
You can watch the dvd in your system, or at least with the kron and the renommee. In the arebesk menu, click on the DVD button. It will then ask you to insert a cassie burned dvd. You can then view it.

Jim,

My experience is consistent with the other replies here - I use DVD-R disks as well, and pretty much stick to Tayo Yuden media as well. If your burn is successful (the progress bar moves all the way across). I am curious what your 'Image Quality' and 'Audio Mode' settings are? (particularly note able if they were purposefully or accidentally changed since your last successful burn).

Regarding your question on Playing back DVDs in Arabesk, click on 'DVD' under Info/Edit/Play and you are presented with a DVD Player. Pop in your disk and it should auto-launch. You can use the on-screen controls activated through your trackball.

Regards,
Chet

Justin, You mentioned you used the verification.process and it said the burn was successful. THat does not guarantee it is playable in DVD players, but it should at least "read" in the original burner1 That is just plain puzzling. I would suggest trying a different blank mfg. I personally prefer Taiyo Yuden -R blanks myself.

I suppose your burner could be dying , but I don't get how that would not show up in the Verify process.

An OS corruption is another possibility, but again. . . ?

G'day Chet: Re your method of playing back DVDs created in Arabesk (I have Arabesk 3) I'm missing something cos under "info" in the Arabesk menu all I get is "film" and "all". How do I get into the DVD play section? BTW, all the best in your new endeavour. You have certainly set the standard high with your BB advice.

I found out something. I checked the dvd's in my pc and there is an Arabesk foler but it's empty. The video ts and audio ts files are there and full and you can clearly see the dvd has been written to on it's surface. I checked my older dvd's that worked with Arabesk and the Arabesk folder has some info it (not much, about 23.3 kb).
I assume 'cause there is no Arabesk folder written it won't read? If so could this be the media? I am using Smart Edit 7 with Arabesk 4 version 1.
