The new JVC HM100 and HM700 look to be groundbreaking cameras. Anyone know if the S4000 will accept/recognize the Hi-rez 35mb file in either the Final Cut Pro Quicktime file or the MP4 standard? It would have to be read from the SDHC card via card reader.
Thanks! Paul

P.S. The brochure for the JVC HM100 says it records in the MPEG-2 long GOP, with the HQ mode "VBR, 35Mbps MPEG-2 MP@HL"

Nothing groundbreaking about a HD camera that is using 1/4" chips; that HM100 will make for a great "outdoor only" camera, otherwise, one better like the look of grain because that camera STINKS in average to low-lit situations; shame on JVC for being cheap and releasing a pile of dung for a camcorder.
The HM700, I would look online for some reviews. I thought I recall that getting average reviews in general.

To answer the question regarding the S-4000 and file based video input via usb YES! I have the Sony PMW-EX1 and the footage uploads direct from the record window via the usb icon for fast easy input, and you can also upload via media manager.

The JVC HM100 allows both MP4 and .mov files. 1/4 inch chips YIKES!!!! 46mm filters File format: Quick time format for Final Cut Pro/ISO base media file format
We did a test at: http://www.camcorderinfo.com/content/JV ... -Media.htm
I am a Super-Moderator at CAMCORDERINFO.COM The staff (Jeremy) did a nice review and it pays to visit the site for reviewing other testing of camcorders.
The JVC HM700 allows only .MOV files ....HOWEVER.....the owner can purchase an accessory attachment for the rear which allows MP4......
MP4 can be imported DIRECTLY from the RECORD/USB ICON BOGART SIDE.
.MOV files can be imported via Media Manager...depending on the contents within a .MOV wrapper but may have audio synch problems. This happens in other manufactorers editing systems except FCP. JVC issued the .MOV files content with FCP in mind.
.I assume a new addition of BOGART will address the .MOV issue.

Thanks all for the replies. I would like to know (since I'm a Panasonic fan anyway) if anyone is using the HMC150 and if that AVCHD format is being imported and edited in the S-4000Pro with no problems? And if so, does a regular old card reader via USB work? THNX!!! Paul

UPDATE: JVC just released a FIRMWARE update to allow MP4 w/o the attachment. That's great news! JVC PROFESSIONAL FIRMWARE UPDATES on their site.
