OK Tim & Chet-
Just so I'm clear...
In the FINISH window, there is a button "Record to VCR". If you click beside this there are two options: HDV and Analog. If I want to send to DV tape in HD I should select HDV. If I want to send to tape in SD, I should select Analog. Is this right? Again, I am new to HD and don't want to screw this up and apologize if I'm beating a dead horse here.
If this is correct, then what I don't really understand is what the heck is the system doing before you can output? I originally loaded footage in HD. I worked on it and when ready to export it has to "convert" to HD. If it's already in HD when loaded, then what is it doing now?

Where did you find ANALOG in the FINISH window?
I can't locate a button/icon to DOWNCONVERT from the FINISH WINDOW from HDV to SD and EXPORT same to a camera/deck.
Maybe I am missing something?

Hmmm -- right you are Lou! I fear I have answered based on both memory and on the options in my Renommee Plus, where you do have the option to export either to HD or to DF. Sorry for the confusion... 
I did not realize we no longer have that option in Bogart.

Oops, you are right Lou, there is no choice of DV export in an HDV Project.

Glad we cleared that up.... was starting to think I was REALLY missing something...
Although in the Bogart FINISH window, as I said previously, there is a button "Record to VCR". If you click beside this there are two options: HDV and Analog. You indicated you don't see that Lou? Regardless, selecting HDV and then using REcorder Controls to export to tape will preserve HDV quality I assume.

Correct...perfect quality back to HDV.
As a sidenote: Having a downconvert SB feature from the FINISH window, provided there is no artifacting, would be an excellent feature for BOGART.

Agreed, especially as we had that in Smart Edit.
I had not noticed we did not have it in Bogart as we are so far behind in Bogart regarding many basic functions in Smart Edit that I am too busy with work arounds to smell the roses.
On a related note, I do not have any Analog choice in the Record to VCR function in a HDV Project.

Bizarre. I definetly have an "analog" choice and I'd imagine selecting that would send video in SD? Or non-digital altogether?
