I've just received my new S-2000 and have successfully used Disk Transfer to load a project I had been working on on my Kron Plus into it. Now, I've just tried to load some DV footage into it from my Sony TRV900. The signal is being sent from the camera to the front firewire input. Set the Video setting to DV, Audio setting to DV, everything I could think of has been set to DV, but I'm getting the "no video signal" message. The front RCA and S-Video inputs are working, but can't get the DV to find a signal. Am I missing a step somewhere? Thanks for any help you can give me.

Re: DV and S2000
You are in a Project set for 4:3 or 16:9 DV and not HDV, correct?
Other than that, it should work.
Try powering the 900 off and then on again.

Re: DV and S2000
The new Gen 3 units default to HD as an input.
If you have not done so, go into the MAIN menu after designating an EMPTY DV PROJECT to 4:3 etc. NOT HDV.
SO:
.CLICK ON VIDEO
.VIDEO SETTINGS
.INPUT>set to DV via the dropdown menu
You should be in business.
Three notes worthy of saving:
1) Make sure your camera is set to OFF when inputting the firewire as not to fry the firewire board.
2) Make sure, when using the above setting, you are changing/assigning to DV in an empty DV project window rather than HD. Otherwise the VIDEO setting icon will not engage.
3) Some of the default setting take awhile to grasp. The Installation of the Operating system defaults to S-VHS to ONE monitor-ANALOG. YET, the system/project inputs DEFAULTS to HDV. This can be confusing to those who work in only one format at this time...HDV vs. Analog Vs. DV. or those who use a dual monitor set-up.

Re: DV and S2000
Tim and Lou,
Thanks for replying. I have tried all that you suggested, but am still getting the "No Video Signal" message. Is it possible that the front firewire input simply isn't functional on this model? Again, the front RCA and S-Video inputs are working.
I am working with two monitors. Should I have done the empty 4:3 DV project procedure before I loaded the Disk Transfer video in? I mean, right now, all the projects are reading 4:3 and the video setting is on DV. I just can't figure out why it's not reading the signal from the camera. I've even tried 3 separate firewire cables.

Re: DV and S2000
Try the back connection....it is a six pin to 4 pin. If that does not work, I hate to tell you this......your firewire board on the camera may be toast.
We hadTHREE SONY cameras in our shop last week with burnt-out boards. Hopefully, this is NOT the case.
If another camera works inputting DV, then it is not your editing appliance. ALSO...try to firewire out of your current camera into another camera or deck and see if that functions.

Re: DV and S2000
Tom,
I don't own a 2000, but if it isn't working it is a malfunction.
If you can, try a different cable, a different cam, try the back firewire port (different cable required) to narrow down the issue to the cable, cam, port or unit.

Re: DV and S2000
Thanks again for the tips, Lou and Tim. Didn't have any other firewire equipment, so took the camera to Radio Shack and hooked it up there. The camera's fine and sending out a signal. Picked up the 6-pin to 4-pin cable and hooked it up to the back of the 2000. Got my video just fine, so it seems to be a problem isolated to the front firewire connection. I have a message into macrosystem to see what should be done next, but at least I can load some video...if I dare. 8^)
