I am not absolutely sure but I think you can store anything on the Ext.3 drive.
We are living in the Bogart world now. No need to stick to FAT32 and to the restrictions of FAT32 anymore...

100% correct. Anything and everything can be stored on Ext.3 Just can't be read on a PC.

Re: HD-Backup Bogart
Pretty much a computer illiterate here. I just bought a LaCie 500GB from macrosystem for backing up my new S2k. Have HD Backup activated.
Used the USB connection. When I started HD Backup, the screen recognized LaCie, but a message popped up saying "Total capacity 0.0 GB"
Below it in red: "Available capacity 0.0 Gb New backup requires 1615294.0%"
Tried it with firewire. Same messages.
I'm assuming the LaCie needs to be formatted, but how do I go about doing that? Reminder of the "computer illiterate" status again.
There's only one project on the S2k. About 64 GBs.

Re: HD-Backup Bogart
I thought the ones bought from MSUS were supposed to be ready to go?
Anyway, hook it up to one of the USB jacks, power it up, power cycle the S2000 and it should either work or ask you if you want the machine to format it for you.
You don't have a flash drive or USB memory card reader hooked up also do you?
If you do you need to actually choose the Lacie in the box at the top.

My mom always told me that happiness was the key to life.
At school they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up.
I said “happy" and they told me I didn’t understand the question.
I told them they didn’t understand life.

Me, too, Tim. That's why I bought it from them.

Have done that already and still get the same messages. No question about formatting. Of course, this is the same machine with the front firewire port that isn't working, so maybe there's a connection.

No.

Re: HD-Backup Bogart
I just want to clear up what happened re: the problem I have been having with my LaCie 500GB HD. It turns out that my local MSUS dealer did NOT get this unit from MSUS, although he told me he did. I sent the LaCie in to Boulder and they informed me that it was a model they never carried. Even they were having trouble getting it to work, but ultimately Bruce came through, backed up and restored his drive a couple times and it is on its way back to me.
Many thanks to the good guys at MacroSystem.
