Getting Music from a Computer Application into Casablanca
In today's article on the Casablanca Expert Blog, I share how to export music from your computer (Windows or Mac) into your Casablanca editor.
You can read this info here:
Getting Music from LaLa or any Computer Application into your Casablanca
You may wonder what 'LaLa' is (beyond the state of mind ) -- it is a cool new online music hosting website that you can read more about here.
Regards,
Chet

For BB users outside the US I would add that Lala is currently only available for the US.

Thanks for that 'heads-up' Martyn. I should have looked into that and at least pointed that out with our global audience here.

Re: Getting Music from a Computer Application into Casablanca
Thanks Chet for that resource. I am looking for music I can use on my productions. I put up a u-tube clip a couple weeks ago and they e-mailed me that the music is owned by Sony music. They said action needed was none. The result was it can't be played in Germany. What ever that means. I put it below. I have always thought you could use any as long as it wasn't over 30 secs. Wheres the cheapest place to find buy out music thats pretty good. Most I have seen is ole foggy music, even though I are one I don't like it much. Bob...

SmartSound Sonic Fire Pro is a top notch music software with tons of good royalty free music, but might be more of an investment than you want to make.
There is an event videogapher/musician married couple that puts out some very good royalty free music.
There website is: http://nightsongproductions.com/home.shtml

My mom always told me that happiness was the key to life.
At school they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up.
I said “happy" and they told me I didn’t understand the question.
I told them they didn’t understand life.

Lou, What did they mean it can't be played in Germany? If its copy righted it shouldn't be played any where. Bob

Typically "Licensed" music is only licensed for the issuing country, not world wide. Also the license does not necessarily carry a "Performance license" for use such as at trade shows etc., which is a separate license if you happened to get caught by the "music police".

Bob,
There is allowance for a few limited purposes including for review or criticism, for educators instruction in the classroom, etc. This is known as the Fair Use provision of US Copyright Law. You will find more about the Fair Use provisions here: http://www.copyright.gov/fls/fl102.html
The issue you mention about YouTube and Germany is covered in
this online article here With the globalization of media, via the internet it is a brave new world that we are encountering and likely to experience some interesting twists and turns between local and international law.
For our colleagues who are broadcasting (via TV/Cable and now the internet) it is highly advisable to consider investment into royalty free music (whether the great product like Tim mentioned (SmartSound/SonicFire Pro) or the Royalty Free collections like Music 2 Hues.

Chet
