PhotoStudio 2

How do you get a presentation slide show done in ps 2 into the bin or on the storyboard? I'm using a Prestige.

Pwa
When you say presentation slide I am assuming you wish to transfer photos, animations or collages to your project, if so then this is the way.

If it is just one photo, then from the PS2 edit screen, highlight the photo you wish to transfer, click the “Create Scene” button, set the duration of the still required and then “OK”. You can repeat this as many times as you like with different photos. When you go back into your project edit screen, all the photos will be in your scene bin and can be placed into your story board as required.

If you have a lot of photos to transfer, again from the PS2 edit screen, select “Special” at the top, create an empty folder, place all the photos you want to transfer into this folder, highlight the folder, click “Create Scene” set the time duration and after you click “OK”, all the photos in that folder will be transferred to your scene bin.

The exact same process can be used with collages and animations.

I see this is your first post to this forum, so welcome to the fold. We are a very friendly bunch on this site and do like to use peoples first names. So please let us know what we can call you, as PWA does not seem a very friendly title.

You do not say what version operating system you have, Smart Edit 8 is the latest version. Again knowing this does help us in answering your questions, since there are differences in what can be done between the OS versions.

Anyway, I hope the above helps, but if you need any further advice, then please just ask.

Thanks Ian for the reply.

I am using Smart Edit version 6.1a. I get into PS2, and on the right hand side of the scree under "Presentation" there are two options, edit and options. I go edit and get a screen that shows all the photos I have loaded in. I then select several (one at a time) and pull them down to the bottom of the screen into a sort of tray. I can determine the sequence and the length of time each photo shows. That can then be played as a slide show. I want that slide show to be part of the story board. I know how, as you described, to get each individual pic into the story bd and then I could use a couple of transition effects to get a similar effect. This just seemed quicker and simpler if I can import the slide show as a unit. I see no buttons that will allow this and I've pushed and pulled on every thing I can click on. The show will play, but as a stand alone event, not part of the story board.

Thanks for the welcome.

Ah, now I understand what you are trying to achieve.

The presentation function in PS2, I’m sorry to say, is not something I have ever used. However, in my limited understanding, it is not intended for export to a project story board, but is designed to play photos direct to a TV / screen or to write to a DVD.

When I can get a little time I must play with this function and see what it actually does. In the meantime hopefully there may be one of our other regulars that can shed a little light on this subject.

Chet have you anything you can say on this subject?

Just off the top of my head, I suppose burning a DVD of the presentation can then be fed into a project using Ksebara???????

Sorry to be a disappointment.

Happy to chime in here... the Presentation Option in Photo Studio 2 is an interesting area. It was originally designed as part of the 'Louvre' (a consumer digital photo editing appliance that had a short life). On that device the Presentation options allowed you to add transitions, music and then burn the presentation to DVD.

But on the 'regular' Casablanca editors - this Presentation section has but one purpose really and that is to prepare and deliver high-quality photo slide-shows directly from your Casablanca editor connected to a TV or high-resolution projector. I say high-res because it takes the native resolution of the photos you're working with and projects them instead of the lower res photos we work with in video.

So the short answer is - there is no way to get a constructed Photo Presentation from PS2 into your Scene Bin (not directly anyway -- you'd have to capture the display and then feed back into your editor). Consider the Presentation you've constructed as your draft, write down the photos and the order you like and then export the photos into the Scene Bin and build your final version there for distribution on disc or tape.

Hope that helps!

Regards,
Chet

 Hi Chet, Question. Is there a way to "scene" the presentation and then clipboard to another project? Also, I you are using the "pan moves and zooms" in the PS 2 and want to use them in another project what would be the best way? My first reaction would be if you can't "Scene" it, could you set a series of presentations that might fit in different areas of a say...Wedding using photos to highlight the video action from the PS 2 export via firewire to your Digital camcorder tape and reintroduce all these "presentations" as additional scenes in your wedding project and edit in as scenes??
Thanx Bill Roth 8-)

Bill,

Unfortunately there is no way to create a scene or move the Presentation you have produced within the Presentation Menu of Photo Studio 2 into Smart Edit/Bogart Scene Bin/Storyboard.

Your 2nd question (which is asked often when I teach a class on Photo Studio 2) is also not possible at this time. You cannot archive or save the preset camera moves you have created within the animation menu of Photo Studio 2. That would be a valuable future capability and a big time saver!

Regards.

I am takiing an educated guess here: Is it possible that he can OUTPUT his PS2presentation via S-VIDEO OUT to a S-VIDEO IN deck by manually pressing the RECORD button on the deck and then re-import that presentation BACK to SE/BOGART's scene bin?
