Having Audio issues
I have a 1:05 radio spot which I have to put video to. I started by putting a 1:05 black up. I then Added my radio audio. I began inserting video and after a few scenes I went back to listen to what I'd done and Realized the audio had moved. I removed the audio and then added it again. Now I have the audio starting goes about 2 frames and starts over. I removed the track agin and now the 2 frames of the audio are still there although I can't see any thing on that track in the mix screen. What would be the best way to attack this.? Did I go about it all wrong? I need to have this done tonight if I possibly can. I should have known, what I thought would be a 30 min project is going to be a pain in the old Keister.... Thanks in advance. Bob...

Re: Having Audio issues
I would be leery of the Project.
I would Clipboard the audio and video to another Project.
And do it there.

Re: Having Audio issues
Bob,
I would heed Tim's advice and clipboard over to a different project - preferably an empty project. I would also then click on the record menu/button and then come back and then continue your project. Here is another thought -- I would use the 'Sample>Scene' button found in the Effects List by clicking on the Special button in the Audio Record/Edit menu. This will create a video black version of your sound sample (taking away the need to add black to the Storyboard).
Regards,
Chet

Re: Having Audio issues
Ok Chet I have now made a sample scene of the clip and the audio seems to be good there. It has a music note and what looks like a monitor on the screen. Can I now insert scenes? I really need to listen ti the audio so I know where to break a scene. Man If I had a tape to tape editor I could have had this thing done and gone by now. Why do they make it so difficult? I guess I'm showing my age now. LOL! Thanks Guys for your help. I have a shoot tomorrow and I really need to get this thing out tonight. Bob...

Re: Having Audio issues
Bob - yes, you can insert video (scenes) on top of this audio/black scene with the cute chartruse musical note.
You can also take this scene (with music/audio) into the Split window, click on the speaker icon to turn on audio scrub. Scroll to the point where you want to change video, click use - scroll to next edit point, click use, etc. This will give you a number of segmented scenes. You will then know the precise length/time that your cover video scenes should be.
Hope that helps!
Regards,
Chet
P.S. I know what you mean about the 'good ole' days'. I cut my teeth editing audio on an Ampex 440 with a razor blade and splicing tape... man I could work some audio magic on that thing (really!).

Re: Having Audio issues
Thanks Chet for your expertice. I inserted my scenes and it worked out great. I am rendering it now. I did it before I read your suggestion to split while listening. I had to go back and forth to the scene bin a few times trimming but all in all it worked well. I used to do this a lot in the old days but not so much lately. I think thats changing though. This client likes to have this stuff on u-tube and links on a couple of different message boards. Pleasing the people I work for is the name of the game. HUH! Thanks agi Bob...

Bob,
You can Trim the Inserted Scenes right on the Storyboard line as well while you are listening to the audio.
One thing, if you bring the entire audio sample over as one piece remember that it is only placed on the Storyboard and not in the Scene bin.
You can use Search to create a copy in the Scene bin of the Videoized Audio track.

Re: Having Audio issues
Thanks Tim, I discovered that. I Had all my scenes inserted and I watched the whole project thru and discovered a scene I wanted to replace. Well I was in a quandary, if I removed the scene would that destroy my whole project. I wasn't sure so I made a scene of the whole project just in case. My worry was for naught, the scene removed without a hitch and a scene with like time replaced it. I guess its not so difficult, just a new way of walking. Thanks again for all your help. Bob...
