Hello Bob,
I need to ask a question. If this is the first time you have used firewire to load your footage into the editor, have you been doing this before using the YC (S-Video) connections on the camcorder and editor?
If this is correct, you will find an even greater reason to use the firewire hook up. The YC connection or separate Video connection yields 400 lines of resolution whereas the digital signal coming through the firewire will pass all 500 lines of resolution through to your editor. ( actually both YC and firewire will yield a little less than these advertised resolutons)
It also carries the audio along too at the same time without needing separate RCA cables. It also allows controlling the camcorder from the interface of the editor with your trackball. All of this plus giving you the benefits of Auto Split. Once you experience Auto Split you will never do without it.
So.....it saves time and gives you better quality in the recorded images in your editor on top of the machine control functions. All in all it's a winner.

Another factor, the firewire transfer is lossless going in or coming out.

Re: !0 years!
OK,OK I am convinced. I don't where you guys have been the last 10 years while I tumbled around in dumbness. The value of fire wire was never explained as you all have. When I first started editing with Cassie's I was shooting with S-VHS, so the YC made sense. When I bought my first DV cam the Casie distributor told me YC was as good as Fire wire and I never questioned him. The little footage I loaded in the other night was better. I had already loaded it by YC so I had a ready comparison. You guys are the greatest, Thanks Bob.Oh by the way my show Saturday got canceled, weather 39 to 40 degrees. Can you believe it us Floridians are whimps. LOL! Bob...

Re: !0 years!
Hey Bob,
We've been here every day for the last ten years. I can remember figuring out how to do things that you weren't supposed to be able to do on the AVIO and we each tried to help each other out by trying new things and passing the information along to everyone else.
That's what built this friendly family of Casablanca Users that we have here on the forum and it is also
the reason that I founded the March Get Together Convention for Cassie users....so we could learn from each other.
I'm hoping that you have heard about it. It's been going on for over 5 years now and in just a month we'll be having our 6th Annual March Get Together. I hope that you do know about it....but if not, you are personally invited to attend. You'll find out all about it here: http://www.marchgettogether.com We have a ball and learn from each other. It's the only function for Cassie Users that is put on for users by users....and that is what makes it fun and instructional at the same time.

Re: !0 years!
I wish I had known about you guys 10 years ago. I have been thru some things that I sure could have used help with. Between Boulder and my dealer we go thru it. I remember one time probably 8 years ago my avio froze up. Couldn't get it to do any thing. The dealer drove to my studio and brought me a demo so I could edit a big show I had shot. Now thats service. Thats why I buy a lot of my stuff thru him. I have been doing business with hi for better than 20 years. I am not going to be able to come to the get together although I'd love to. I have to work during that time and I can't afford to fly out either. Things are kinda tight here. I may have to move out of Florida. Taxes and insurance are tearing us up. I hate to start my business all over. That wouln't be fun. The hurricane season a few years ago really chased our insurance up. I really appreciate all you guys willingness to help. I don't know how you all find time to experiment with things. I used to when I had a real job and it didn't matter if my video business made anything any way. Those were the good old days before retirement.
LOL! I can't believe i went 10 years without auto split. It is neat. Thanks Again Bob.....
