Hi guys. Haven't been here for quite awhile. After not editing video for a couple of years, I decided to do some editing recently. I've got 4 hard drive drive sleds, a couple from my previous Solitaire, one that I had been using with my Renommee Plus and one that I decided to drop a new Seagate 300 gig drive in. My drive I'm using has a 300 gig Seagate drive and I just decided to update the software to SE 7.0 from 6.2c. That drive and updating it worked just fine.
I can't get the Renommee Plus to boot up or recognize the other three drives at all. Not with 6.2c, not with 7.0 and I even tried it with a 5.1c CD. NADA ! Any ideas? All the drives are installed in the sleds exactly the same. And other than the new 300 gig drive, they all worked before on the Solitaire ( can't remember if I used them with the Renommee or not but I'm thinking not ).
Thanks. Craig Peer

Re: Renommee HD Sled problem
After reading the post several times I'm slightly confused here with what you are doing with what. However, if you have been swapping drives between Solitaire and Renommee, the jumpers need changing from CS (cable select on Sol) to Master for Renommee. Do you have Boot up disks for the Renommee? The discs from Sol may be the type you load from Install Products. These don't work with Renommee.

Re: Renommee HD Sled problem
Thanks for the reply. I screwed up - the drives and sleds were from a previous Prestige ( don't know why I said a Solitaire - bonehead mistake ) -
I traded in my Prestige for a Renommee Plus some years ago when that deal was going. I now want to use the sleds and drives from the Prestige in the Renommee Plus. The jumpers on the Hard Drives are all set to master, just like the drive that came with the Renommee Plus. Everything is the same connection and jumper wise on the drives / sleds that won't boot up as the drive that came with the Renommee Plus that works fine.
I can't just take a SE 7.0 software CD for the Renommee Plus, stick a new unformatted drive / sled in the Renommee Plus, turn it off, then re-start it to re-boot it and load the software? If I recall correctly, that's how it has always worked with Casablanca editors ( whether from CD's or the card in older machines ) when formatting new drives or reloading software for a destructive re-install. Doesn't seem to want to do anything with these drives in the Renommee Plus.
Thanks. Craig Peer

Re: Renommee HD Sled problem
The solution turns out to be to replace the ribbon cable that connects the hard drive to the sled. The ones with a blue connector end won't work with the Renommee - they need to have black connectors on both ends. Thanks to those that PM'd me the solution. Craig Peer
