Mabey you guys are right. I just need to ignore it. Both times the audio was alright on the story board. Jeanton I usually do other things while I am down loading but its usualy right here. I work on my PC while I wait for the Cassie. I do a lot of still work so I have photo jobs and duplication to keep me busy in between but its all done right around the corner from my cassie. My work station is in a L shape. When the weather is good I'll go out and work in the yard or go fix fence or something. Florida's weather has been terrible this winter. Its colder than a well diggers uno. the wind has been howling all last night and all day today. I work in my barn, where my studio is, and it has sounded like a Hurricane all day. I'm gona have to move south next year. LOL! I have rendered both of those pieces and they seem fine. I have to make a package of all 4 programs tomorrow and deliver them. Jeanton, do you have this line at the bottom of your screen when you are inpiting via firewire? Mine has done that ever since I started using the firewire. Maybe I have a bad cable. Bob...

When using firewire with the SONY HD700, CLOSE the LCD monitor during the transfer process.

.The line you observe is only when in the HD mode of SE. This is because SE is making proxy files. When you output from HD to tape, this line is not present. This, luckily, does not occur in BOGART 2.4C but occurs in GEN 2 systems. There is NOTHING wrong-just the way the proxy scenes are changed to DV to expedite editing in HD. The FINISH window will revert the files back to HDV during the rendering process.

.ADVICE: Use the DOWNCONVERT METHOD via the MENU located in the SONY HD700 if you do not care to ARCHIVE to tape in HD. Set the project to 16:9 SD Anamorphic.

I never seen a line on the screen while downloading the footage but if it isn't there when you edit it then
ignore that to.
If you download your footage just mute the TV, aswell the camera sound and listen to some nice music
when you edit your foto's.
Do you use the timer function when you download your footage?

Hi Bob

In the record window next to the word mode is a button called normal click on that and drop down and select timer.
Now the slide next to it is activated and you can select your time you want to record for.
This way you never have to be there when recording footage in as it stops recording after your selected mins.
On Sunday I usually record stuff in and go to the markets to buy fresh fruit and vegies and never know how long that takes
but it doesn't matter because it doesn't record more then I selected.

Tip; Before rewinding the tapes write down the recorded mins if it say. 39.42 mins I would suggest to record an extra 30 seconds
of nothing on the tape to get over 40 min to cover your self before the recording runs out the machines don't like stopping them self's.

In this case you set the timer to 40 mins as you can only select mins in that window and then start your tape and press record.
Try a minute first in an empty project and see if you get the hang of it.

I got rained out at the track last week so I have been busy all week withe the revival. I have a reunion to edit tomorrow but I think I already downloaded it. Yes I do mainly wedding and sometimes the odd jobs.
This is just a part time job as it is seasonal and I have a full time job as well otherwise I won't be able to pay the bills.
I am not the person to chase work either so if they want me and I am not booked I do there wedding but if
they don't get back to me I won't be ringing the clients and pressure them into booking me.

As it looks now this could never pay the bills full time as people are not prepared to pay more money for a videographer for there wedding.(in this city)
Mind you they pay heaps of money for a photographer who spends less time on the day to take there shots (leaves the reception before it even starts)
and spend less time on editing than we do.
Also they usually rock up to a ceremony with one or two cameras (six assistants, to look like there money is well spend) to take twenty shots while I get there with 3 Cameras 3 tripods -20 thousand worth of equipment and do it al on my own and the photographer manage to stand in my way during a ceremony and most of them come with an attitude.

As you can see I am a bit p..... off with most of them as I do so much more work then them but can't charge for it because the clients don't see
how much work there is to produce a wedding video the only thing they see is a couple of discs.
With photo's they see maybe a thousand photo's (with a couple of excellent shots) not seeing that on a wedding I could have 5 to 600 shots as well but because they are seamlessly blended in the DVD, and don't have numbers they don't count them so it doesn't look like much work.

Thanks to the Cassablanca editing system I don't spend as much time on editing as my competitors do on a PC as this system is very reliable and easy to use so that is a good thing
Don't know how long I stay in this business unless I start ripping people off by charging more I can't see myself doing this full time.
Don't feel like doing corporate stuff as you have to direct write scrips and tell people what to do and wait for money.

I know what you mean about photographers at weddings. I do a lot of still work but myself but its all sports. I am able to make a decent living with my business. I am also retired and on Social security. That sure helps. I have been in the business for 27 years but I have either worked at a real job or collected Social Security. Unless you are on the hige end IE: broadcast you have to struggle. I know a few people that have made a good living at this business but most like me struggle. With me Its a labor of love. I Love the video and the creativity it allows me and I have been involved with some asspect of racing all my life, so the two just seem to meld together. I love what I do and spend way too much time working but its as I said a labor of love. I always wanted to work at home and now that the business is all I do I work all the time. At least thats what my wife says. I have no lack of work at all. My prices are lower than the guys in town so I get all the work in my little community. I go to the post office and run into someone that has a little job for me. I have never advertised and I don't pressure people either. I get almost all my work aside from thr track by way of word of mouth. I am still printing disc from that job I finished today. A job like this is where I could use a printer where I could stack the disc and leave it. With my racing video I can't use that because I print the drivers picture on each video. I have a young fellow that works with me at the track and he tavcks a lot of pictures as I do. That personal touch sells a lot of video for me. What do you do for a living other than video? I am retired from an electric utility. Florida power & light. I worked for them 33 years. I retired as a trouble dispatcher. I spent most of my years in what we called distribution. I was a Cable Splicer. I worked on under ground cables and electric vaults serving commercial customers. I don't shoot weddings any more but last year my wife shot one and their was a photographer there and she took several hundred pictures and they were terrible. She gave me a disc of all her pictures and I think I used maybe 5 shots. I like to put some stills at the front of the bride getting ready and the gromm being impatient. I used those 5 from her disc and grabbed several from the video. How is the Aussie weather? We are having the coldest winter we have had since 1958. We are in march and there are freeze warnings north of me. It is 36 degrees F outside right now. Well I'd better run I want to thank you for helping me when I have problems. Are you still up it must be getting late there.
I am a baker overnight and try to do the editing during the day.
The weather here is great for my town atleased not out west, it has been raining here for the last week or so that is fantastic.
You might be thinking he is crazy but being in a drought for the last 8 years it is good to see some good rain, everything is going green
and fills up the dams for our drinking water supply witch was down to 8%.

It is not so good for the people out west as they have most of there houses under water but atleased Toowoomba is about 500 meters
above sea level so I can't see that happening here soon.

I am going to bed now in a minute. Man a drought for 8 years. What did the farmers do. Thats bad for them. We have a season of drought every year and it gets bad. It only last for 2 months but in florida when it doesn't rain the ponds go dry and the Cattlemen have to carry water to their animals. That gets hard on them. The freezes we had in Dec caused the strawberry farmers to spray millions of gallons of water to try and keep them from freezing. That in turn caused sink holes to cave in and there were houses falling in as well as cars and roads. that was mostly north of me where the majority of strawberry farms are. They are going to have to do something about that. It happens every year during the winter. I guess this does belong on Cassie Cafe but I don't think anyone really cares. I never find anyone there. I tryed to get some talk going there but couldn't interest any one much. maybe if we went there it would incite others. I'd better run to bed. the alarm clock will be early. Talk to you soon. Bob...
