[quote="RobertCarpentier"]Ahhh, yes - the Taio Yuden solution. I've been reluctant because they are costly. Of course, the answer to that argument is that you can't really put a price on happy customers. The Verbatim DVD-R media that I've been using probably has a record of 3 failures to every 100 of them I use, so I guess this last batch is the 3!
Well, happy customers is an excellent by product, but re-doing a burn job for free is a major consideration to me. Particularly when we are only talking a few pennies each for the DVDs. Add to that your reputation of always providing good DVDs. Having worked for 25 years in industry, it always ticks me off when someone expects the customer to be their quality control manager even if they do provide free replacements. (not aimed at you. DVD manufacturers ) As others have said, the material source and acquisition path may have been the culprit in this case.

Re: Arabesk incompatability with some DVD players
Thanks Jim - your solutions are logical, but one of them would require my Reno + to be in the same room as the DVR and that, alas, is not the case. We as a family are not up to the "consumer industry standard" of having multiple DVRs that are linked via bluetooth or other LAN connection.
Do you actually have a DVR with full firewire functionality (both in and out)? I have an "ancient" Panasonic that has always accepted the Sony TRV-900 for inputting clips from tape, but would never record out to tape. Maybe I've never allowed the proper "handshake" at startup.
Anyway, copying a DVR recording to a DVD is normally something I do only once, right in the family room, using the Toshiba DVD recorder to burn and finalize. For multiple copies the logical procedure is to repeat the same steps - one at a time.
Happy Editing and keep doing the March Get-Together. Mayber I'll make it over there sometime.
