I think that Volkers problem is with HD Back-up Bogart (should be called HDD!) which does a complete clone of the drives projects, without the System Software. So a single project not restoring is a problem but it happens but the whole back-up going awol is a nightmare ;-(

I've also experienced problems with both and it does beg the question as to what's going on. We need a reliable back up solution, or at least one that works consistently

One other point whilst on this subject. If you do a single Hi Def back-up in Project Settings then it renders the whole lot, presumably because you could then write it as a film to DVD/BD.
For backing up though this adds hours to the process. Why can't we just back it up in it's natural Bogart form, no rendering - straight out.

This might not be much use for any other purpose (PC/Mac use) but then it's not intended to be - we just want a quick, reliable, source to re-load if neccessary.
HD Back-up Bogart does this but with all projects - can't we have the same option but just for one ???

Get off my soap box now.

Mike, I think Hans was refering to HD-Backup Bogart when he said he was saving ONE project.
He just has one active project in the bin so HDD only will save ONE project when you are trying to save ALL :-)

All I am asking for is a verify process that can be enabled if you want to spend the time after finishing the backup. And I am certainly willing to spend that extra time. I will sleep much better then :-)

Hi Michael,
in my previous post I said "Single Project" and I mean single project.
Volker is right, there is only "One" project in my 1-30 project list
and so only this one is saved via HD-Backup.
Otherwise there would be more contents in GB, than only 25GB.
It's much more time saving to move only one single project from
int. to ext. hd and vice versa.
Users not having HD-Backup yet maybe happy having more than 1 project
on internal harddisk but I don't need it.
I can restore any "single" project and do my editing, while other not finished
projects are still sleeping on ext. HD-Backup harddrive.
If users having multiple projects get into a real system trouble all of their
projects get lost.
So I'm on the safer side.

I also have changed my initial method and use HD-Backup with only one project (although I spread the actual project out between Projects) at a time in the saving process.

It would be more of an issue if your business/hobby requires you to work on a lot of different projects essentially simultaneously.

My work process however is pretty linear in that I usually work exclusively on one project from inception to finish.

So saving these with HD-Backup reduces the individual storage space and time to Save and Restore and the HD-Backup method is heads and shoulders superior in editing flexibility compared to the two Project backup methods in my opinion.

Ah, I see - makes sense.

So . . . does that mean 'you' use one external drive per Bogart HD Back-up OR multiple Bogart HD Back-ups to the same drive ?
It would be more of an issue if your business/hobby requires you to work on a lot of different projects essentially simultaneously.
This is where a new option of saving one project at a time (scene bin/story board) in Bogart format would be useful ?

No, I put multiple HD-Backups on a single external drive (although I have several that I use).

I just name each backup to identify the backup.
