Burning BD-R in S4100

Post by dragangaga »

I have a HDV project in lenght of 87 mins., which is successfully rendered, and I wanted to burn a Blu-Ray disc. I used Verbatim inject printable BD-R 25 GB medium. I went to Arabesk and I changed the settings for the media to BD-R and I used to AVCHD format as a target format, like it's written in the manual. When I clicked ok, the program got me into Arabesk HD screen. Then I added the film from my project into the Arabesk HD in lenght of 87 mins. It took some time to add the film, then the add film icon has dissappeared, and then I clicked on write DVD, then I put the BD-R into the Blu-Ray disc drive (Yes, I do have a Blu-Ray burner on my S4100). The burning process has begun and I don't know or I am not sure if the message should pop up "DVD Successfully Burned" like if you burn the regular DVD, but after the finish of the burning, there was no message on the screen. Since there is no possibility to check the disk in the Arabesk 4 for the Bogard OS, I ejected the disk and I saw the burn tracks. I don't have the PS3 yet, but I do have a Sony Vaio laptop with Blu-Ray write/play drive. I put the disk in the drive, and guess what? The computer won't recognize it and play it. Should I go first to Best Buy to try to play it on the PS3, or do you have some other advice which I'm missing here? Does someone have the solution? Thanks, Dragan.

Hi Dragan,
Its Syl... I have had EXACTLY the same issue you are having "Verbatim" Blu-ray did not work for me !!!
I have successfully burned a Phillips Blu-ray last November 4 all together that play not only in the PS3 but all other ones listed here in the forum.
Problem is that Phillips Blu-ray model is discontinued...
I tried recently Verbatim as they were on sale & no luck :-(
I have ordered a couple different brands to see if they work.
I can keep you posted with what works or not.

Hi Syl,

So, you are suggesting that I'll have to try a different type of media (different manufacturer)? In that case is good since is that no problem... (Verbatim was printable - that's why I got them). I was afraid that I'm doing something else wrong.. or the S4100 is not burning. or, or...

Thanks Syl,

Thats what I'm suggesting yes... I tried burning 3 Verbatim at different speeds etc... nothing worked then I found 1 more Phillips and it worked perfectly...
I have not tried any other Blu-ray DVD brand yet... If you get positive results let me know the brand your using.
I have some Sony ones so lets see what happens.
Its hot like Phoenix up here today :-)

Hi,
apart of Arabesk burning issues there is a simple way to check
your burned AVCHD-DVDs.
After burning leave DVD in tray and go to MediaManager and play disk.
All successfully burned AVCHD-DVDs are played this way with normal DVD drive.
I don't know about Blu-ray drives since I have not changed yet.(S-4000Pro)
Just have a try with recently successfully burned disks.

As a test, you might try loading the AVCHD back into the unit as though for further editing. If it loads great, if not

AND in 3.2C the editor no longer has to use Media Manager. AVCHD will play via a disc using the USB RECORD BUTTON. Simply load up the disc and click on the USB icon.

Furthermore, HDV can now be saved in 3.2C unlike before. SAVE your project in HDV and re-import via the USB RECORD icon.

I like being able to import almost any footage into any project (SD and HD) no matter what format or size the footage has - without having to use the Media Manager.
