PLEASE HELP on how to make a blu ray disc
Somebody please help me. I am trying to add 78 minute film so that i can make blu-ray disc. I try adding film and making DVD from it and it works fine. Quality is not same as if it would be if i did it on a blu-ray disc. My problem is when i try to add film with a settings below after some time my S4000 Pro restarts and i am back to main screen. At the begging of adding film it looks like everything is working fine and than when i come back later system looks like it was restarted. I try finding something on a forum and also on a Casablanca web page on how to make blu-ray but there is very little. I even try rendering film before going to Arabesk but that didn't help. Can somebody please explain me or tell me what am i doing wrong.
Thank you.
System and project settings are:
HD 1440X1080i
Project Length: 78 minute
Bogart Version: 3.2C
DVD Arabesk version: 4.9
Pioneer BD-RW BDR-205
DVD-Firmware Version: 1.04
Below are setting in DVD Arabesk HD:
Media Used: Blu-Ray 25GB
Authoring mode: AVCHD
Verify mode: Checked
Expert mode: Not Checked
NTSC
In addition to above it, Arabesk HD accepts adding smaller portions of film but when i select the whole 78 minutes it doesn't take it.
Thank you.

Re: PLEASE HELP on how to make a blu ray disc
Well, you are doing everything right. The only exception may be the incompatability of your Blu-ray disc OR there is a corrupt scene causing the rendering to stop. After stopping, the unit may by cycling OFF due to the time set or the time left idle.
As a last resort, you MAY have to re-install ARABESK first OR go back to 4.6 OR do a full install.
I have no problems burning and rendering to Blu-ray with 3.2C and 4.9. Using Verbatim.
Curious, are you rendering in NORMAL or GOOD mode?
Good mode rendering lasts 4ever.

Thank you for your reply.
I have 3 options before adding film:
Fast
Normal
Good
I usually select normal, didn't even try selecting any other one. Can you please tell me which one do you usually select?

Re: PLEASE HELP on how to make a blu ray disc
I am using the same 3.2c and A4.9 and have successfully Add Film and burned HDV to Blu-ray using the same 1440x1080i setting.
I use Image Quality: High, Rendering: Intensive and Audio Mode: Uncompressed in Add Film.
In Settings I use Media used: Blu-ray 25GB, Authoring Mode: AVCHD(DVD) as I believe that is the correct mode for HDV to Blu-ray for consumer playback.
I think AVCHD (rather than AVCHD(DVD)) is more for creating a data disk copy although I could be wrong, but do not think that is your problem as I believe that only effects the burn, not the Add Film where you are having issues.
It truly sounds like a corrupt frame.
You mention you tried pre-rendering, do you mean you used Create in the Finish menu?
You also mentioned a shorter version worked.
Have you tried dividing it into multiple pieces and ALL worked?

At school they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up.
I said “happy" and they told me I didn’t understand the question.

Re: PLEASE HELP on how to make a blu ray disc
Thank you Tim for your reply. So you think that i should try using AVCHD DVD. I did try cutting scene in more than one but that didn't help. Right now i only have one scene of 80 minutes that i am trying to add. It looks to me more like a bad scene but there is only one now. I will try doing AVCHD DVD, right now i am using selection "good" when adding film in Arabesk HD. It takes time to add a film and so far it is going ok. Not sure it which point system restarts because i usually try to add film during the night time. I do have one other question, do you think i will loose quality if i use AVCHD DVD?
Thank you,
Leo

Re: PLEASE HELP on how to make a blu ray disc
Leo,
I don't profess to be real conversant in this new tech, but I think it is designed for best playback.
I know I burned a Project both ways on Blu-ray disks, ACVHD and ACVHD(DVD) and the ACVHD(DVD) was the better looking result on my 63" plasma.
I do not think that is likely your Add Film problem though, much more likely that either something in your video is triggering it or something in the OS is corrupt.

Just a note;
AVCHD is for BD media.
AVCHD DVD is for DVD media.
This is because a DVD has to use a lower data rate for play back, slightly less quality, as the media is not designed (capable) of streaming video any quicker that would cause stuttering.
In PAL Bogart v3.2e and Arabesk v4.11 you can now produce a much conversion of your AVCHD film.

Re: PLEASE HELP on how to make a blu ray disc
Michael,
That makes sense, but wasn't my subjective experience comparing the two with the same footage.
That means either something doesn't work perfectly in the system in NTSC land or my Blu-ray player and 63" plasma does not replicate the higher data rate well which I don't believe as Hollywood Blu-ray and HD streamed movies playback stunningly with the two.
I will have to do some more A/B burning to look into this in greater depth.
Sigh, wish the rendering of HD to Blu-ray wasn't so time intensive as it makes it inconvenient for testing.
