mini out?

Post by videojim »

I'm looking at the back of my Renomee, and wondering why none of the plugs back there is an audio out line? I've plugged into all of em, and nothing is making noise, and I know there is audio to listen to. Ideas?

Could you answer some questions to help clarify what it is you're trying to do?

Why did you title your post mini out? Are you looking for a mini jack to plug headphones into?

What project are you playing as you look for audio outputs? What device are you trying to hook up to the Renommee?

Casablanca editors have line-level audio outputs, so you would hook it up to a device that had a line-level audio input - like a VCR, stand-alone DVD burner, audio cassette deck, or the tape or aux input of a stereo receiver, etc.

I see that the line outputs over toward the end of the unit are RCA plugs. As I look more toward center of the back, I'm seeing what look like mini-plug outlets, and wanted to plug a computer speaker up to hear the audio that I know is in the project I had going at the time. Computer speaker systems usually have stereo mini plugs instead of RCA phono plugs.

Ah, but a Ren is not a PC. LOL

Seriously, as they use PC motherboards and other parts there are several standard PC ports that are not connected to anything inside and so are non-functional.
My mom always told me that happiness was the key to life.
At school they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up.
I said “happy" and they told me I didn’t understand the question.
I told them they didn’t understand life.

I guess you already have the computer speakers. If your monitor that now gets audio from your editor has audio outputs, you may be able to hook up a 6" adapter cable that has 2 male RCA plugs on one end and a 1/8" stereo female on the other end.

If not, you could use an inexpensive audio distribution amp, taking the output of the Cassie and sending it to the monitor and the adapter I mentioned above. You could pick both of these up at Radio Shack, where you can take it back if it doesn't work for you.

I found a way to adapt from the phono outputs to mini, and now have it working. Thanks!
