Re: BR-looks BAD
Not to worry. Depending on the playback Blu-ray player, a strobing is normal if the fields are clashing-a progressive look. This happens on other operating systems as well.
Solution: While viewing the disc, have your client place the disc on "PAUSE" and then "PLAY" via their remote control. Even "STOP" then "PLAY will work. The disc will play properly. The client may have to to this procedure more than once. I have a Blu-ray made from TOAST from another operating system and this occurs from time to time in PlayStation 3. It is NOT a BOGART problem but the usual incompatability of new technology. This is the workaround.

Hey Lou, don't get me wrong, but this is a software bug that has to be fixed by an Arabesk update. No excuses allowed

Re: BR-looks BAD
About a year last I had the same problem playing blu-ray discs on my PS3, made on my S-4100. A "pause/play" solved the problem for some days, until I sold the PS3, and purchased a Panasonic player instead.
Since then - no problem!

Re: BR-looks BAD
VOLKER: 100% agree this issue should be rectified-somehow.
BUT, I am NOT so sure it is truly an ARABESK problem......it is not only our software as experienced with my son' wedding on Blu-ray which also displayed the same problem. No ARABESK used. FinalCut Pro then Toast to make the disc.
Sounds like technology issues once more. Example, the user from Norway, who posted here, is not having the problem with his Panasonic but did with PS3.
SO, we are back to the new technology vs. the incompatibility syndrome. I remember the days when a DVD-R would only play on certain DVD players and not on others.
Let's hope that Fanklin's issue is related to the "pause/play/stop" issue of a Blu-ray player thus the client will be happy with when the aforementioned procedure is implemented..

Re: BR-looks BAD
Hello Franklin,
I am not suggesting that there is not some additional development that needs addressing here -- particularly the stopping/freezing of DVDs while in playback (I have not first-hand experience with this but heard it from several voices). I also believe, as Lou suggests, that Blu-ray (delivery of High Definition video via DVD) is/are still an immature technology.
That said, I do have a member of my website who was not satisfied with the quality of transitions and pans on his Blu-ray DVDs late last year. I encouraged him to add the Movie-Mode (found under Special in the Edit Menu). This essentially de-interlaces your video. He found that while this took a long time to render, it produced much more pleasing looking finished product. NOTE: If you're already editing Progressive video in a project with settings on Progressive, ignore this suggestion.
Regards,
Chet

Re: BR-looks BAD
So the best solution is to tell my client to use PAUSE and PLAY to
see his wedding video better??? THIS IS WEAR !!
I think this is another ARABESK BIG BUG, just like the DONW CONVERT
situation, this must be FIXED this year not in 2016 when BR whont EXIST..
Chet my videos are 60i, I will try the movie suggest to see what happen
to the final BR edit video this week, I am waiting the DSLR an VIDEO war
gets better to get new cameras an shoot 30p or 24p for progressive mode ..

Re: BR-looks BAD
Franklin,
You did read the part about new technology right?
I don't think much of the recommended Play/Pause action as an acceptable work around you could tell a customer to use, but if it's a currently technology limitation there isn't much choice for any of us or the customers.
Or could this be something else like for instance a playback device issue or a quality setting issue or you flat out panning too fast?
I know HDV does NOT like fast camera action.
Does the offending artifacts show in playback on your Storyboard (aka: too rolling shutter artifacts)?
Have you viewed the claimed offending BR on your Sony to see if it actually is an issue with the BR rather than the playback device of your client?
No manufacturer can guarantee a burned DVD, let alone a BR will play well on every single consumer playback choice out there.
