There's a lot more relevant discussions here than at the other forum, especially with DSLRs, and is very interesting to be inspired, learn and participate in the formative transition into this new medium. I can't wait to get back home to Maryland with my broadband connection and view your recent Vimeo post. I'm here in Las Vegas this week for a Wedding Marketing Convention and my dial-up connection in my home here is not just Vimeo friendly.

Thank you Eric, the links below feature Video Profiles for websites & Social Media business pages like Facebook.
They could all be done say with a T2i, a tripod, DP slider & a 50mm lens. so for under $2000.00 you could get started. You could even use the audio from the camera itself under a controlled environment the built in mic work well.

Hi Syl.

Anticipating to activate the Vimeo links you posted and can't wait to view them back in my studio. I'm on vacation and my dialup connection here just can't tackle the load. I have a wedding next week that I'm thinking of producing the recap with the T2i (Mainly shooting with the Z1). Most likely, I will probably get the 7D or 5D later down the road when I'm more comfortable with the format.

I'm gradually trying trying to equip the camera with DSLR rigs: Follow-focus rings, gears, etc. But this one is very interesting, The Cyclops. I'll be receiving mine soon when Cinevate sends out their first shipment Oct. 8th: http://www.vimeo.com/14670278



Speaking of continuous AF while shooting video, I had the chance of testing the 14.2MP Nikon D3100 ($600 Body). The auto-focusing is fast and quiet while shooting video. That camera has a stunning 11-point focusing fields. Unfortunately, the store didn't have the D7000 ($1100 Body) yet, but that camera has an impressive 39-field Auto Focus, with 16.2MP and has dual SD card slots. That'll be very interesting to experience.

I cant wait to see what you do with that recap... shoot normally like you do with your Z-1 & try to shoot little 10 seconds clips with your T2i & put the puzzle together after !

Gee...when does the nasty war between Canon and Nikon (or between its own new and old users) ends? Just when one thinks, he or she has the best equipment, it becomes an antiquated model like a used car after driving a few days it out of the lot.

I heard the 60D can also use SDXC memory cards, providing up to 2TB of available space, allowing photographers to keep shooting HD video and full resolution RAW and JPEG stills without changing cards....and here I thought Nikon was pretty innovative with their dual SD card slots on the D7000. The flip screen is cool but it's unnecessary with a mounted eyepiece unless it has a full time AF, which the 60D still doesn't unlike the Nikon 3100 or the D7000.

Here's a cool way to achieve steady hand held DSLR shots (probably already implemented by many).

Adjusting the camera strap tighter and close enough to create an adequate viewing distance between the LCD screen and your face, and pulling the camera away while creating a tension around your neck, will give you steadier shots than when letting it flow freely with just your hands.

It works.

Caleb from I C Blue Productions shoots all his SLR with the strap around his neck just like you mentioned Eric. If you hook up with him on Vimeo he might be able to give you more tips on how he keeps it soooo steady with that technique. he's almost 7ft tall maybe that helps lol ... the problem for me trying out that technique is I find under the gun wedding shoots its hard to keep it up arms get tired... mine did any ways

As for the technology changing at lightning speed... I think it's just a fact of life... and good for business from their point of view...
It's my job to stay in touch with current trends as far as the "look" of video productions if I want to charge top $ where I live. As long as I can achieve this look with whatever I'm using thats all that matters.
