Nothing on disk

Post by methuenbill »

Tried to Arabesk out a project Dual layer disk. I let the project run all night and when I got up the machine had shut down. Nothing was on the disk. I did this 3 times two with the project story board and once after I made a scene of the storyboard. All three nothing. No idea why the unit shut down. On a standard dvd I let it run all night with no problems. I get up and and it says verified.

Did you indicate DVD DL as the "media used" in the "settings" for Arabesk??

How long is your HD project?
If above 50-55 minutes it won't fit on a DL disk.
Which Bogart/Arabesk version is installed?

version 2.4c, arabesk 4.6, Project length 165.47:20, One other thing when I bootup the unit sends me to another project. What are dual layer used for? I am able to get a 2hr project on a single layer.

If it fits on a standard DVD why are you bothering with a DL?
My mom always told me that happiness was the key to life.
At school they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up.
I said “happy" and they told me I didn’t understand the question.
I told them they didn’t understand life.

Bill,

You _can_ get 2 hours onto a standard DVD, using Reduced Quality and Compressed Audio --- here is a chart on my web site (in the public resources section) to help you with this decision: http://www.casablancaexpert.com/articles/DVDcapacity

The wedding is 165.47:20 minutes. Tried dual layer nothing it says its working and when I come back 8 hrs later the machine is off and the disk unwritten. I tried lower quality on a standard dvd it says to big for the disk. Tonight I will try dual layer lower quality.

Why not two standard discs, here in the UK not all players will play DL discs and two discs look better value than one

Two standard disks does not address the actual technical problem Bill is experiencing with DL disks, but I have to agree with the suggestion of using two normal DVDs.

I have always been a strong proponent of two DVDs rather than a DL to the point I have never used a DL.

I believe there is perceived value of a two DVD set is higher than a DL DVD (which most people still don't have a clue about).

Also, technical playback issues (and apparently even burn issues ;) ) are much higher with DL DVDs than standard DVDs.

It is a rare production that cannot be split onto two or more DVDs.

Even long Catholic and Jewish religious ceremonies had logical points where they can "to be continued...", six hour dance recitals have intermissions and breaks between acts, etc. etc.
