Yes. As long as the Casablanca software will not be in danger of hackers "breaking the code" as Jorg stated a while back regarding Casablanca software for PCs.

Well, since ALL other companies offer software for individuals to purchase or download and install themselves AND these other companies are thriving quite well and attracting more and more new users, I think it's very safe to say that the whole "the world is ending if we release our software because it will get hacked" is nothing short of a COLOSSAL marketing mistake based on "old school" fears that have simply been proven 100% false over and over. What is a fact, is if a company plans on only catering to their existing client base without being able to reach new markets and attract new customers, younger customers, then the writing is on the wall, as the existing base will only shrink over time. Frankly, it's almost a crime and a shame that thus far, the company has not adapted to the changing world around them; because their operating system and its outstanding simplicity and ease of use would appeal to so many film makers. Talk about a huge missed opportunity not only for immediate sales, but for not growing the user base by leaps and bounds (which could be happening now). Like my fellow users, I want nothing but the best for Macro and I want to expose our software to more and more colleagues, friends, etc. – I WANT them to see how great it is, but when people want choices in this day and age, not offering such a choice will simply lead them elsewhere.

Yes, with the assumption that the software will work on a "decent" (fairly high end but not necessarily requiring the very highest end) PC.

I can't believe that this thread is not just blowing up with posts! What gives people? This is/could be an awesome thread. Get off your cans and give up some feedback!!!!! I think it should be "sticky" so it stays at the top of the list all of the time!

NO
You can obtain crack codes for most PC editing software on the market just do a search on Google, Premier, Vegas etc what MS should be doing is adjusting their pricing structure and giving more effects software etc with the purchase of the hardware.

No.
I didn't see any mention of Mac and I don't "do" PCs anymore other than print out invoices and labels on a Windows 98 not connected to the internet.
Sorry

You may now buy...the S3000, the S6000 and a pc version of SmartEdit or Bogart; with this software priced at $999 (and lics. to install on two of your computers; desktop, notebook, whatever you want)
I seems to me the way the question was phrased....you will still be able to purchase the "hardware" just like you are now. The issue I see with Not have a software only version is....the "younger" generation is much more accustomed to making a software purchase to load onto existing hardware. Not to mention that software is MUCH easier to "stock" than hardware.

I guess we could spin it so it looks like this. IF a software only version was made available....AND IF it was to become a popular item...AND IF sales from that product were substantial...then MAYBE the revenues generated could be used in R&D for additional software for existing/future machines.

I should also point out that IF Macrosystem did include a "software" only version of Bogart OS....dealers could potentially run into many more tech support issues. Well at least the dealers who provide good tech support.
