The VX-2000 native resolution is 4:3 however there is a setting in the menu for 16:9. The camera does this electronically. The camera uses fewer pixels to record an image in this mode. I would still like to know how the original footage was shot.

The result must be a very low resolution poor quality picture. I think I would rather have a better quality 4x3 with black bars each side. A better way to get a wide screen picture would be to attach an anamorphic lens.

I own the s-4100 and run bogart 2.3. For SD the machine is amazingly fast! My old Panny SD is 4:3. So I edit 4:3. Why would I even try to edit 16:9? You always match formats, unless you want a screwed up project. Its much easier to morph the image afterwards on your wide screen tv to your preference.
