Tks Franklin :) yes this was edited on an S-4100 as all my stuff is...
I never tried out the 60d so I cant give you feedback there... what I can tell you is that
the 5d MarkII is a MUCH better video camera than the 7d in difficult lighting conditions no contest !!!
I also know that your "GLASS" can make or break a shot ! all of my stuff shot on prime l-series lenses look
much better than shot with regular cheaper lenses... a huge difference in quality.
Also you might want to play around with the internal picture settings to bring out certain colours in
certain situations... I mostly shoot in flat for run and gun but in controlled environments I will play
with picture profiles to add some punch !
I was asked to go to MGT 2011 but too many commitments in March :(
What I could do is put videos together of how I shoot stuff, equipment etc... (time permitting of course)
I don't really know how much interest there would be for this except for a handful ?
So maybe over the phone or ichat would be better... don't know ?

Let me know what you guys think if your interested at all ??

cheers

I am very interested. I really appreciate your obvious passion for your craft. Like i have said before....very inspiring! Along the same lines....I found a clip of a really cool and creative stop/full motion video shot with the 5DMKII.

Lets get together soon. If I can break away........I will give you a shout.

How do you input the video from a 7D or 5D mk II from the card reader. I am using Bogart SE 2.2. I can play the file in Media Manager, but I do not see a way to record it.

Thanks,

Phil Handler

Hi Phil,

You can get the MOV files from MM but the audio will not work :(
You need Bogart 3 in order to input files directly in a project with proper audio not to mention the time saved in not having the extra
process of using MM.

I transfer all my MOV SLR files (7d & 5dMarkII) through card readers. I use a Acumen and Sandisk model ($40 each)
They work everytime... what has not worked for me is directly from the cameras into the S-4100.

I shoot everything in 1920x1080p 30p
I set my project to HD1440x1080p30 (I was told that 1440 works better especially in Arabesk)

I edit everything in HD but nobody is asking for Blu-ray so I downconvert in Arabesk.
Even with the so called downconvert issues with the Gen III machines the quality is OUTSTANDING
and customers think that the DVD they get is already HD :) (I have not had the time yet to even try Blu-ray with SLR's as a demo)

Thank you for your interest & don't be shy with questions.

Hey SYLRENAUD !!

I would like to explain to us step by step on what you do when you go to save the material of the DSLR,
if all you keep on external hard drives BOGART format, or in PC or MAC, but good advice for those who are
new DSLR in this area to keep this information as important as any
wedding without having nightmares, as a corrupt card, uffffff...

Thanks in the name of many DSLR folks !! :D

Hi Franklin,
First when a CF card becomes full I back it up asap onto a COLORSPACE UDMA portable mini drive.
Second when I get home I back up again (All Raw Files) through my MAC onto an external Lacie HD.
Third after dumping all MOV files into my S-4100 I make a copy of them to be Clipboarded to another project.
Finally I save that particular project on a Lacie drive formatted to my S-4100's each night as my project edit moves forward.

Corrupt card ? well that has not happen to me yet after over 50 shoots with HDSLR's last year. Could it happen ? I'm sure it could happen just like a
defective tape in a camera. This is why I shoot everything with multiple cameras usually 3 to 4 for weddings.

Hope this helps in your workflow.
