Need Help With Renommee Plus

Hello, I'm new at this so please bear with me. I have a few questions and I'm hoping that one of you kind people will help me. I don't really want to have to pay for this information through the expert website, so if you can help me, it would be greatly appreciated.

Problem 1: My Renommee will not recognize a USB drive or DVD-RW with imported TTF fonts. I hit IMPORT FONTS, select between USB Drive and CD / DVD and it just sits there. I have card reader software installed, so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Question 1: I am using Smart Edit 9.1 Am I able to transfer AVI or similar film files directly to the Renommee?

Problem 2: My smart-card slot in the front of the machine seems to be blocked with a plastic cover. Unless I would stick something in there to pry it out, it will not come out. Is that normal? Has this featured been deemed obsolete and non-functioning?

Is the Card Drive software the latest version 1.3d? Is the USB drive a USB stick? We recommend Kingston Data Traveler although most non branded ones seem to work. Avoid Sandisk which usually don't work. Sticks are the easiest way to import TTF fonts.

Renommee does not have a card slot. The blanked off card slot is a remnant of its Prestige ancestry. The front of the Renomee was probably produced from a modified Prestige front mould. SmartMedia cards have been obsolete now for seveal years. Most card drives will work connected to a USB socket (with Card Drive software).
