who's done this?

I asked in the Nikon forum, and they said a D90 makes an AVI file with some sort of compression on it, but don't know what that meant. Anyway, who in here shoots video with a D90, and what is the file format? If it is an AVI can a Renommee read the file in the appropriate program? Since an SLR won't follow focus very well, (although it did just great with focus at a kid's birthday party last Sunday) how would it work doing greenscreen? I'm bringing mine to MGT,along with the Ren, to test out what I read in here.
