Please excuse old age ignorance--or forgetfulness-- but I know I'm doing something wrong because I can't get a simple airplane route from Hobart via Melbourne to Auckland to to get past the preview stage. I've been through the 28-page instructions which tell me to save the progression to archives, then close the program by clicking on the edit menu icon, then close the special window. Unfortunately nothing happens. I know I must be doing something wrong as I've had the program working perfectly a year or two ago. Please, can anyone help?posting.php?mode=post&f=14#

I would like to help you but the explaination is not easy due to the various menus that have to be used and all types of variations of same. You don't need to save to the ARCHIVES. Just render as usual.

However..............................

Here is a step by step tutorial on what you need: http://www.casablancaexpert.com/articles/20090811_5

Chet also has an intensive DVD about Columbus which I refer to as my aging brain shrinks. It is worth joining Chet's site as well as purchasing the various DVD's that dwell into the more sophisticated softwares.

When you have completed the route, click the lower right exit button (an icon with a spanner, or rench as you might call it). This will take you back to the "Special" menu, just click the "OK" button and it will render and put a new scene in the scene bin.

Thanks fellahs for your help. Still can't get pass the preview stage, which is perfect, so I've asked Chet if he can help.
Whenever I've asked for help from this terrific forum, I've been able to get a solution--and it's almost inevitably my rather stupid fault. I'm hoping that's what it is this time too.

I can't explain this one--but my project finally rendered--perfectly. Just for the hell of it, I clipboarded the project, which was perfect up to preview, got it back into the scene bin, and behold, it rendered--again perfectly. I give up trying to understand the seemingly inexplicable shenanigans of electronic wonders.
