Re: 1080i vs 1080p
I wasn't aware any of the current cams could shoot 1080p, is there some now?
My mom always told me that happiness was the key to life.
At school they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up.
I said “happy" and they told me I didn’t understand the question.
I told them they didn’t understand life.

Re: 1080i vs 1080p
Do you mean 24P or 30P in NTSC?
60P only 720
All work well in Bogart except some reports that the external FMU is not recognized.
AVCHD FX (24Mbps) 1920 x 1080/60i

Re: 1080i vs 1080p
My Sony EX1 can shoot in 1920 X 108030p MPEG 2, 1920 X 1080i, MPEG 2, 1440 X 1080i HDV MPEG 2, and 24p settings.
I prefer 60i if shooting medium to fast motion subjetcs. The EX1 does not record in the ACVHD format therefore, the import process via Bogart is very fast. The Casablanca can handle both of coarse.

Re: 1080i vs 1080p
I am not sure which is best for weddings and dance recitals. I do both. Is sd resolution as good as the minidv?
If I shoot in hd and export to a standard dvd will the resolution be better?.
1080/60i, 30p, 24p, 720/60p

Re: 1080i vs 1080p
This is actually an interesting question. For sports and dance recitals that require panning, I prefer 60i, in order to prevent that progressive stutter. However, for weddings. Hummmmm......
For pre-ceremony and "park walks", you might consider 30P. Personally, I am NOT a big fan of 24P-too jumpy unless the camera is locked on sticks w/o panning.
Now, for the reception, perhaps fast dances require 60i, BUT, you can get away with 30P. The added bonus for 30P, is that less light is required.
I shoot almost everything in 60i because I like the look of actual video. But, that is my preference.
