Freezing footage in HDV capture.
Hi folks, long time no post...
I'm using an S-4100 just now in Bogart v2.9e, it's been fine up until now, but currently having trouble capturing HDV footage from my Sony Z5 camcorder. It starts capturing ok in an HDV project but after a few minutes the picture starts to freeze, I get a lot of spurious static frames and eventually the record just times out and stops. Watching the playback on my camera screen and that's playing fine.
Any ideas ?

I see your location is Scotland, so I think the 4100 is a PAL-machine?
I would recommend an update to Bogart 3.5 or the new released 4.1a.

Thanks and I take your point Hans but can't afford an upgrade right now, and to be honest I don't really see why I should have to buy and upgrade for something that I've already paid for and doesn't do what it's supposed to do (capture HDV). Previous versions of v2 were ok so what's gone wrong with this one ?HansJoachimKoenig wrote:I see your location is Scotland, so I think the 4100 is a PAL-machine?

Has anyone else using or has used Bogart 2.9 also experienced this issue whilst capturing HDV ?

Hi Allen
Nice to see your still with us,missed your entry for the F.F. last year hope to see one this year? Have you done a full install of Bogart worth a try more so if it has been working fine up to now.

Hi Charles, been very busy with work the past year, been all around Europe and back again with a film crew. Hope to be back on the FF next time... You'll be needing my current e-mail address for your records too. Eh.. looking like a full install may do it, just need to back up those vital projects first.Charles wrote:Hi Allen

Re: Freezing footage in HDV capture.
Hi m8, another fellow Scot here...from the mighty Kingdom of Fife!
I have EXACTLY the same problem as you are having...my S4100 Pro freezes every few minutes only when loading HD footage and I'm on the LATEST Bogart release, 4.0a!! This was installed from scratch but still the HD footage freezes. I'm lucky if I can get 15 minutes maximum...other times it's 1 minute 30 secs! I have to sit and watch the film going on & stop it as soon as it freezes up, this is the only way it will go on.
I didn't think I'd be the only one with this problem...I certainly hope it gets fixed out soon as I've a lot of HD projects coming up this year & like you say, why do we have machines for HD and it doesn't work properly??

As soon as I saw your username I knew you had to be a Fifer ! lol. Yes it's frustrating isn't it, especially as I've had faultless HDV capture over the past two years on my S4100 and now it's playing up. I can't do a full re-install yet until I get a couple of current (SD) projects completed. We'll see what happens after that, but I don't have a great feeling about it, having read your case study. Oh and good luck to the Pars in the SPL next season, hopefully my wee Paisley team can do a better job than last time...
