March Get Together 2012 (March 5-8, 2012)

I received an e-mail this week from Jim Meeker that hopefully most of the rest of you received as well about next year's March Get Together.

If you didn't receive it you need to contact Jim at jimmeekersr@myway.com so he has your correct and current e-mail address for continuing updates, registration links, etc.

I am happy to see Jim not only deciding to continue the MGT after a couple of trying economical years, but actually improving the location and venue.

There are big changes in the wind with Jim opening it up to all video minded people and hosting it at a new impressive Casino hotel and conference center complex that is a huge upgrade from the previous two locations with great room rates!

I have unfortunately not been able to attend the last two years due to prior business commitments and have really missed getting to hang with my video peers.

I am going to make it a priority to attend 2012 and plan to commit as soon as Jim has the registration forms available online and strongly urge the rest of you to do so as well.

Bring it, Jim!

Yes it is so sad that many Cassie friends have changed their e-mail addresses and I find that my e-mails to them are returned.

Unfortunately, that means that these fine folks aren't able to get any of the the information about the Next MGT and will be left out of all the fun and learning.

The location is really exciting, the rooms rates are better, and the lunches are included in the deal. Everything is indoors, and even though there are two hotels next to each other with 500 rooms, everything is joined by a heated and air conditioned Sky Walk. Yes it even takes you to the Mississippi River Boat Gambling Casino right there on site. The parking is also under a roof and has entrances to the Sky Walk....so your car is pampered too while you are at the 2012 "March Get Together"

As many of you will know, I was at the first MGT some 7+ years ago. Both Martyn and I came over from the UK and participated in the very first event, at Moline. In fact we were the first act on the first morning. My mouth still goes dry at the very thought of this.

Jim and I still keep in touch on a fairly regular basis, so I am aware that he is planning yet another great event for 2012. That first year was very much a trail blazer, at which Jim learnt a great deal, to which he has used this experience to improve the event year on year.

For those that have never been, I can only say this is a must event for any Cassie user. Not only do you learn from the presenters, but you get to meet many other users, put faces to names and exchange ideas, this is in itself priceless.

I for many reasons have not been able to make a return visit, but hopefully I will return one year, if not this next event. However, I still keep in touch with many of those that went to this first event and that in itself is worth the effort of attending. Even those from NY are friendly guys.

I fully endorse what Tim has said, the venue next year should be much improved and although I am not party to any detail, I know Jim is preparing to make this the best MGT yet.

So make a commitment and also ensure you contact Jim, with updated email details.

Thanks for the good words my friend. Now if you and Beachy and my newest friend for the UK Graham Jones could all get together and fly over here we would be delighted on this side of the pond.

Be sure to post immediately when you have registration up and functional on the website, "available soon" is a saying I have learned to despise in my experience.

The sooner, the better, yesterday would be acceptable.

I too, was not able to go last year for several reasons, not the least of which it that I'm editing on a different platform now. But I really miss the energy and enthusiasm we all have when we get together. As many of you know I work for a county government in our TV production unit and unfortunately most of our folks have gotten complacent and just want to do everything cookie cutter and easy.

That's just not my style, so I need my creative batteries recharged and my video enthusiasm pumped back up...So I plan on seeing you guys there!

This is great news Chris. I couldn't ask for a better endorsement than from you my friend. Now that we are opening up the invitations to all video formats, it's even more important to have you attend
next year.

Click the button "Find out more" and then "Register now" to get to the registration page.

The form does not register your choices of editing platform, how many attending and the Yes and No answers when it prints so be sure to fill those in with an ink pen after printing the form.

The registration forms are now available on the March Get Together web site.
http://www.marchgettogether.com just click on find out more and scroll down
to read about the 2012 MGT. Then you may register by clicking on "Register Now".
This will take you to a two step process were you may decide if you wish to send a
check in with the printed form or pay by Pay Pal and mail the printed form in without
a check included.

I have already received the very first registration form from Tim Kennelly. He said he
was going to come and he has made the first move by registering. The hotel rates are
shown on the web site and the phone number to call for room reservations is listed.

There is a way for you to save $75.00 on the price of the MGT and you'll find about that
on the web site.

Here is an arial photo of the "ISLE" of Capri and Casino that was taken before the second
hotel was built. It now stands just to back of the parking area and connects to the building
behind the first hotel and is attached where you see the Gazebo looking structure. Our meeting
area is just to the left of the Gazebo in an area called the "Isle Center" under the green roof.
