SYL...., thanks for sharing the link. I agree, it's so well done...its content seemingly infinite, despite the brevity. To the trained eye, one can tell that there was a lot of creative planning with the camera work.

Definitely, I will attempt to polish my DSLR shooting techniques. I'm trying to get this Carl Zeiss 85mm 1.4 lens...awesome for portraiture and dept of field.

This is a trailer for an upcoming Elder Story we are working on for Eric Smith from Navan who served in both the Second World War and the Korean War as a fighter pilot. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. Eric grew up in Navan and personally knew many of the young men whose names are etched in the marble that is proudly placed beside the Navan Memorial Arena.

Unbelievable how the 7d & 5d are almost even with very high priced cameras like the Alexa for instance !!
Ok the glass used in this comparison is very expensive... but still its very impressive not getting rid of my SLR's anytime soon

Let me start with a 3 letter word.....WOW.

I sincerely hope your clients are able to see those beautiful images on Blu-ray, and not on regular DVD, because I know many videographers who shoot and edit in HD but make regular DVDs for their clients because they don't have Blu-ray, so they never actually see the extra sharpness of HD, and to see something like your wonderful wedding videos reduced to standard definition, would be a crying shame.

From the first time I saw Vincent Laforet's Canon HD promo videos, I knew this was "out of this world" video, and your own breathtaking videos continue to confirm my beliefs.

You are indeed a very talented film maker.

Merci Beaucoup Len how is everything down in T.O. ? Here in YOW it's really hot this summer cant wait for fall & the hockey season to start !
I have had only one request for Blu-ray and because of the rendering time I will produce that one after the wedding season & I can report back then.
Until then my wedding clients are very happy with the down convert from SLR's to DVD to the point of thinking it is Blu-ray when they first see it.
I know some Cassie users are complaining about the quality of the down convert but everything is fine here... maybe when Arabesk 5 comes out the look will even be better

I canot say enough about the HDSLR look with proper glass it is OUTSTANDING in my humble opinion. This being said if you look at some of the previous posts I have put up here on
this thread I'm not the only one seeing this. Among many including Stillmotion http://vimeo.com/user403001 from Toronto are shooting promos for the NFL & Callaway all with Canon 5d's & 7d's !!!

Have you thought about coming to Jim Meeker's MGT in March. I'd love to meet you.
I know you and others who use DSLR's talk about the shallow depth of field produced by these relatively long lenses to get that 'cinematic" look, but now let's look at the other side of the coin. I wonder if you've studied Orson Welles' classic Citizen Kane, (I'm sure you have) where he created the exact opposite effect, in other words he and his cinematographer Greg Toland utilized extremely deep depth of field, or as he called it "deep focus" so that everything up close and also in the background were all as sharp as a pin in many of the scenes, which was quite a cinematic innovation back in 1941.
My point is, whether you're creating shallow or deep depth of field, it depends entirely on the particular scene.
Sometimes deep depth of field works better, sometimes shallow depth of field works better.

Take a look at this scene from Citizen Kane.

You see the boy playing in the snow, then as the camera pulls back and follows Agnes Moorehead into the room, the boy outside remains in focus.
