This may be a dumb question,

Post by flvideo »

But it sure would save me a lot of time. Is there anything I can put in between scenes so I can make a scene of all and have them spilt in the other project?

Sounds like a great suggestion for the code writers but I don't think that is currently an option. Unfortunately code writers are probably not going invest time writing something new for our generation II machines.

You are probably right Bob but that may sway my decision on which platform to go with when My rennie is no longer functional. I see so many problems with the Bogart machines that I don';t know that I want to venture into that relm. I make a decent living with SD and ny customers don't even care about HD. I need to spend my time working on the projects I get payed for and less time less time trying to figure out why my editor isn't doing what it should. Thanks for responding. Bob... PS thats a good name......

Hello Bob - I believe the other stupid question is the one you never ask ;)
That said, there are was to accomplish what I think you asked above...

Best method IF you are running Smart Edit 9 (or Bogart V3 or V4) is to use the Copy button in the Project Settings. This lets you copy everything from one project (scene bin, storyboard, all transitions, title & effects) and audio samples to a new (blank) project.

If you're on an earlier OS, you can export to DV tape (via firewire) any storyboard, with no transitions or effects and when you import to a different project - click auto-split and it will split up your footage into the separate scenes from your first/original storyboard. You could do this, of course, with your original tape as well. But with this method, you can also delete any undesirable scenes.

Hope that helps.

Chet

I believe the other stupid question
I cannot believe you just said that Chet! :D :D :D
My mom always told me that happiness was the key to life.
At school they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up.
I said “happy" and they told me I didn’t understand the question.
I told them they didn’t understand life.

Yeah, heard that saying a million times and agree with the attitude, but your mistype was a grin.

Ha! I do that all the time Chet. Think one thing and type another. I will try what you are talking about but it seems like as much work as I am doing now. What I am doing is backing up my race programs. I am now making a scene out of each race and I move each scene to another project so I can record them on dv tape for later use. What I'd like to do is make a scene of all the races and move them all at one time and then split them in the other project. I figured it was a pipe dream. Making all the scenes is whats taking so much time and then moving each scene indivisually. Thanks Bob....
