how do you fix this?

Post by videojim »

I was doing Birdy's tips & tricks 2, added the scenes to the storyboard, and added the PIP effect, but time won't indicate the new time I posted. I set it 3 times and it won't adjust off the default one second duration. Ideas? This has happned two days in a row, so restarting hasn't helped.

Hello

There are so many questions to be answered here. What machine, What software. Is the base scene longer than the picture being placed over it in the PIP mode. Do you have the regular PIP or do you have PIP Studio?

For the timer to move, you need to have both scenes long enough to accept the time that you want to set. So if one scene is only one second the timer can not move. Generally we suggest that the pip image to be placed over the base scene be of equal length to the base scene, but in reality you can use different length scenes after you get familiar with how it all works.

Are you placing the PIP operator (emblem) in between the two scenes in the storyboard? It won't function at all without that being placed between the two images that you are working with. Also it makes a difference which image is first and which is second...ie behind the operator. One way one scene is the base scene and the PIP goes into it and if you arrange them in the other order.....the other image is the base scene.

I wish I was there to help you out but it's difficult to guess at what the problem is by long distance.

By bringing up Birdy's Tips & Tricks, I was meaning to convey that I was following what he was instructing, point by point, so the procedures necessary had been done up the point of adjusting the time. Only the time wouldn't adjust. The scenes were on the storyboard, the effect had been added, its just that the time wouldn't add correctly. But I have seen software/hardware handle the same issues differently on a different day, and I had the luxury of trying again later, so we will see what happens tomorrow, after Koffee Klatsch, maybe before.
