I have posted the same problem with my new Sony HXR-NX5U with the FMU-128 gig module. The SD cards and the memory module play fine on the hp computer as well as the Imac. If i load it into my Cassablanca 4000 all the audio is out of sync. I loaded through usb and card reader, through the camera and from the 125 gig memory module all out of sync. I have gone back to my old cameras. Macrosystems has not supplied an answer yet. I don't think they have tested the Bougart software with the newer cameras. I had to redo 5 dance recitals and manually move the audio trak to sync with the tap of the shoes. Hours and hours of work not to mention all the disks I had to redo and get to all my customers(money lost). I have to re-edit 2 weddings and try to sync up the audio. I can only hope the next years release will have a fix for this problem. My kids tell me to use the Imac, thats what they use, but final cut seems like it has a long learning curve. Good Luck with the newer Cassablanca.

What is your audio setting in the NX5?

I tested this camera's file and all went well.

DOLBY AC3: Very compressed

Linear PCM: Uncompressed.

Test the audio via shooting a talking head on TV for 20 minutes on each audio setting. Let us know whaty happens when you go through the process again.

I place my bets on the audio setting which has to be set in the audio menu of the NX-5.

BTW: If the audio setting is NOT the culprit, I have a workaround which comes direct from Sony Engineers. You will have to use your PC and a USB stick. We will cross that bridge if the audio setting was not correct.

Thanks

Thanks for the tip. I will try it out this weekend. I have the setting to Dolby. I will let others know if it works for me. Since I have 3 weddings shot with the setting on Dolby I might need the work around.

With a Sony PMW 350 I can only get 'double' mono as the Bogart doesn't appear (as yet) to do PCM and that's all this camera has, no other option ?

Had another 'audio' issue with another Sony (can't remember which one  ) and that was resolved by switching from PCM to Dolby.

Can you get PCM into Bogart then (these are on PAL machines) :?:

Did the test with PCM vs Dolby. Ran some footage from the TV of CNN. 90 min half PCM and Half Dolby. The PCM seems better but not quite in sync and the volumn is very low. The Dolby is way off of sync and the volumn is also low. Must be the recording from the tv.
I am struggling with a wedding trying to sync up the singers (family of the bride). I am trying the apple as they are getting anxious.

Using your PC:

Use Sony's content management software to copy the clips off the SDHC cards

Use the provided Utility Disc that came with your camera to isolate the video files

Transfer JUST the video files to a designated folder on your DESKTOP

Transfer the folder to BOGART

Use Sony's content management software to copy the clips off the SDHC cards

I did a one hour shoot today. I set the camera to 1440 as recommended by Marcosysrems and Pcm. The file is fine on the camera and on the PC. I haven't tried the Apple yet. It will not load into the 4ooo small zeros for a poor machine.

Well, I did a fresh load of the new bogart software. Started with loading in a memory card thru the usb of a dance recital. The file is a SD format. The audio was still out of sync, you can tell when the tap shoes hit the floor and the sound is behide about a second. I then loaded the same file running it thru the camera. Same results. I also put the file on the storyboard rather than the scene bin. Same Results. This file plays fine on an apple and a pc. I am loading in a HD file as I write this the message at the top of the screen says "slow scaling required" I have the unit set to 1440 as Macrosystem say the setting should be. I will review the results later today. I may have lost one of my dance studios as I have redone the show over trying to sync up the audio. I still have some people who complain the the audio is off.
