Issues Burning BluRay Disc on S4000

Post by Rte80west »

Hi all. Just recently had a Blu Ray burner installed in the unit. When ready to burn, it was a 241 minute project and indicated it would take approx 53% of the disc while using the HIGH image quality and INTENSIVE rendering. When finished, only about 80 minutes was burned to the disc and when placed in the DVD player instead of going to a menu as it normally does with regular DVDs, it displayed three sub menus titled: Arabesk, Audio and Video. After selecting the Video icon I was able to access another 8 discrete video scene chunks (which did not coorelate to the chapters I identified prior to the burn) and choosing each one took me to a different part of the 80 minute video. Again, the troubling thing is: a) why didnt it start with the menu and b) why didnt the 'next' button on the DVD remote access each of the chapters I identified? Also troubling was why did only 80 of the 241 minutes burn and lastly, while the footage looked good, it displayed in 4:3 format rather than its native 16:9. That one I dont get at all- I thought by default all imported HD footage would be displayed in 16:9. I looked thru options and don't see a 4:3 setting for HD footage. So while the footage looks clean, it's a "stretched" presentation b/c its presented in 4:3 not 16:9. So how the heck do I address that?

The media I used: Memorex BD-R, 4x 25 GB single layer disc. I selected max burning speed and identified it was a BD disc I was making.

Any advice appreciated!

Are you sure you had it set to burn a Blu Ray? I don't have " High " image quality using AVCHD video on my S4100 and burning BR disks - only Fast, Normal and Good ( I use good ). Maybe 241 minutes is too long? I'm about to burn the longest Blu Ray I've ever tried - 45 minutes.

Also, I didn't think we had the ability to created menus wit Blu Rays yet - which version of Arabesk are you using?
