MTS backup Storyboard

Post by Macromax »

Has anyone in Bogart 4.1g had any sucess in using Storyboard Backup in MTS mode. The system appears to do the backup OK but when you try to do a restore all I get is "Restore Failed". I have tried to find a MTS file using Record and Media Manager but there is nothing. If I use HDV mode everything works fine.

Yes. There is a known issue with MTS back-ups (which I always used to back-up my 1920 X 1080/30p footage) that started with Bogart 3.6c MS has verified the problem. It sounds like it is still a problem in Bogart 4.1g. For now, use the HDV back-up (1440 X 1080i) or transfer to media manager and use the full HD DIVX 1920 X 1080 export option or the .mpeg4 direct .avi option to archive your footage.

NOTE: Be sure to check the MPEG Convert to ON or you will lose audio on the way to media manager.

Correct.....a known issue reported to the developers. As Joel advised, use HDV. No big difference and renders faster. You can also use the OPT button inside the scene bin to transfer scenes to an external source. This will be an AVI file wrapper with MP 4 within.

I have just upgraded to Bogart 4.5c and guest what Storyboard Backup will now not work in MTS or HDV all I get is "Backup Failed" as soon as I click on OK. Why include features in software if they don't work?

Did you perform an update or a full install of 4.5? If you did an update, that is probably the culprit.

Try a full install.

Yes I did a full installation of 4.5. Started a new project downloaded video from my camera (1920 x 1080) edited it into the storyboard then tried to do a storyboard backup getting nothing but a message "Backup Failed". Tried MTS and HDV to a hard disk drive.

Start a new project (same settings) and do 30 seconds of Colour Bars and then back-up - does that fail too :?:

Color Bars in the storyboard also fail backup. Can someone please with Bogart 4.5c installed try storyboard backup and let me know their results, it is very simple to do.

I have and it does (work) i=out and in with v4.5c PAL, here - not in .MTS though.

As a note the 'new' back-up StoryBoard button in the finish menu with v4.? is .MTS only so just use the one in Project.

4.5C will allow saving in HDV and MTS. However, even though MTS will upload to an ext. drive, the MTS file can not be imported to the project window via the restore menu or even via Bogart. So, you will have to use HDV. Now, there is a new button area in the FINISH window but that is also MTS as the HDV in the finish window allows only exportation to tape.

Here is another tip: If you overide a project in 4.5C, a prompt/display may advise you of a fail (BACKUP FAIL) to your flash drive. Simply DELETE the previous SB you are overwriting and start anew.
