Amazing isn't it. :-) Something was loose I guess.

Now here is something equal but off topic:

Years back, the emergency lights on my police car would not rotate. The police mechanic was busy as I was part of a 3,000 man department and many cars were being serviced that day. One mechanic tried and tried to find the "electrical short" causing the emergency roof rack NOT to rotate. He said this is a job that will require the new police car to be out of service and that I would be required to use a spare piece of garbage police vehicle for several days.

When the head mechanic, turned his back, I went into a tool chest located on a bench in the police garage. I located a real large rubber mallet with a long handle. I took a deep breath, swung the rubber mallet/hammer back and WHACKED the emergency light roof rack. Situation resolved....the light rotated and I didn't have to drive a piece of junk around for several tours. True story.

I couldn't believe it! Now I am not saying this is what everyone should do....but, I'm just saying...THANK YOU LOU! Guess what I did as soon as I found out I was good to go?....I backed up my projects!...what a day!

I spent a lifetime in the automotive electrical and electronics industry. There are two common reasons for failure. One is that components drift out of specification and no longer function. This is something that happens more quickly at hight temperatures; the cooler your electronic device the more reliable it will be. The other is the bad connection. There are thousands of connections in most electronic products. The most unreliable being plug and socket connectors. Next are the component connections to the circuit boards. The really difficult problems to find are the intermittent ones.

The bad connection can develop because components are made of different materials, and as the temperature changes they expand and contract at slightly different rates; so they move relative to each other. Add in a little corrosion from the moisture in the air and it goes wrong. Corrosion can take place because the materials are different and react with each other. So in their own way electronic components can 'wear out'.

So taking the cover off and pressing home each connector you can find is a good start. Banging the top of the faulty TV in the good old days was a start. Many years ago I had a new computer that kept playing up. It was still under warranty, so before I sent it back I dropped it on a hard floor nice and level from a foot in the air. Mended, I did not send it back and it never went wrong again. No, I would never try dropping my Cassi. I believe our Cassi's are built to very high standards and are very reliable.

Alan !! I agree with you with your comments,I am no talking about dropping my S-6000 (cassie), I just want to express my situation with this case about
my CRASH with my 2 months old external HD,the problem is that I wish I could have a BACKUP from this one, maybe my nightmares wont even exist if
I had a save copy from this external hard drive,Tim just mention a solution to this case..http://www.buy.com/prod/siig-cool-usb-2 ... 21718.html
I think in the mind time this will be my live saver from any of my 5 external hard drives, one more thing : MS USA don't have any responsibility about many BUGS that always come
after any released from new software, especially when is OPERATION SYSTEM software, one simple sample is they been testing ARABESK 5 for many many months to avoid
problems when this LONG AWAITING released DVD software comes to AMERICA,remember every simple software first is test in PAL and then in NTSC,they try to do the best
they cant do,not only for testing and fix BUGS, they try the best to survive this company...

Happy editing..Franklin... 8-)

Franklin, you are correct. ARABESK 5 has to be done right, issued correctly and with minimal if any issues. MSUS and the beta team is doing the best to make this possible.

Happy to help, Franklin.

Wish I could have gotten that solution to you sooner, but Mike had just posted it a few days earlier so I wasn't aware of that option either until then.

Kudus to Mike Madden for this relatively inexpensive and time efficient backup solution.
My mom always told me that happiness was the key to life.
At school they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up.
I said “happy" and they told me I didn’t understand the question.
I told them they didn’t understand life.
