WOW!!! We learn something every day. Thanks Hans.
I am familiar with the battery depletion issue. That is why some S4000's turn on for a few minutes and then off by itself. Mine is doing so and I set the timer to power-down the unit after 5 minutes.
Hopefully the Media Manager method will help all of us.
Hans: Can you explain to us exactly why turning off the POWER-SAVING MODE in MM helps?

Re: S4000Pro WPOS (Worthless Piece 0f X) won't turn on
Hi Lou,
I don't have any more info about the "Zero-Watt-Standby" circuit than I offered in my prior postings.
If in MM the setting is "Never" the relais switching the mains supply is set to "ON".
So when you press the front-on-switch of the S-4000 unit the mains supply voltage is uninterrupted
and is delivered directly to the power supply.
Otherwise if the rechargeable battery is exhausted (5 years of operation) it won't drive the relais anymore correctly and the
mains supply voltage can't be delivered to the power supply.
In this situation the "firewire jumpstart" may help getting the unit to start again.
A self repair to replace the rechargeable battery is almost impossible since it is soldered to the mainboard.
The whole S-4000 has to be taken apart.
The 3 cells=3.6V battery can be found nearby the front display.

Re: S4000Pro WPOS (Worthless Piece 0f X) won't turn on
Hans, I had to take a break from the S 4000 pro for a few days and crank out some production on my Renommee Plus. I left the S4K unplugged over the week end and started fresh this past Tuesday. I tried several things that did not work. I won't go into detail about what didn't work. This morning I was able to do a destructive install of my original OS 4.1g. No jumpstarting required. After I got both the VGA and HDMI screens visible, I went into MM and made the setting as suggested on your email of 7/6/12. I have installed and activated all optional software. I have not yet tried to edit anything or even turn the unit off to see if it will come back to life. I will update the report after some attempts to use the unit. Thanks for taking your time to walk me thru your suggestions.

I had to trade in my 4000 Pro for a 6000. They could not get it working right. They were nice enough to give me money for the trade in.

Hi Hans,
You've posted some helpful information over the years so I thought I would ask you about something you posted a couple of years back. A user here in the U.S. has a 4100 that will not boot up. I did a search and found the posts where you mentioned using a firewire cable between a computer and a Casablanca to jump-start the Casablanca. People over here are saying it can't work because the 4-pin firewire cable doesn't carry power like a 6-pin cable does. Do you have any more information on this procedure? Was the administrator you mentioned American or European?
Hi Craig,
the "Jump-Start" information was given by the administrator of the German Casablanca Support Forum Mr. Michael Huebmer. http://www.macrosystem.de/forum/index.php?page=index
You may contact the forum for more info.
To access the registration form goto "i" Google Translate --> Google Translator
You are right only a 6-pin firewire cable will perform the procedure.
And to my info this will only work for S-4000 casas.
Maybe my answers of some help?

Re: S4000Pro WPOS (Worthless Piece 0f X) won't turn on
Hi Hans-Joachim,
Thank you very much for responding to my questions. I don't own either unit so I downloaded the MacroSystem hardware manual for the S2000, S4000, and S4100. It shows all 3 machines as having a 6-pin firewire connector on the back. Perhaps the S4100 only has a 4-pin firewire connector and the manual is in error? It would be good if there was a way to get a "trickle charge" into the system to revive a depleted battery.
Thank you again for responding, your answers did help.
Sincerely,
Craig Newman

Re: S4000Pro WPOS (Worthless Piece 0f X) won't turn on
The S4000/Pro has an "extra" fire wire 6 pin socket on the back (a vertical one) that is not normally used as it is connected to a different part of the machines internals so not an input source for DV material. It is this socket that allows the extra two fire wire pins to provide a voltage into the machine to trip the relay - if the battery has indeed failed.
The other Bogart machines don't have this 5-10 year battery and so this solution has no effect on them . . .
